hi guys, if you were on the parkway heading towards belco on Friday the 12th at about 6 15 you would have seen my r33....... written off!! was by far the most upsetting event in my short life, but shit happens and its time to move on.

Now i have a few questions......

1. How much would it cost for a r33 shell with no motor and transmission in it, as all the stuff in my car is in perfect working order. and only has 92,000 on the clock!

2. How much would a 180sx rb 25 conversion, i do have a budget but would be willing to spend a little for and nice ride

3. Would i be better off buying a new r33 and selling mine for parts, and if so how much can i expect to get. it was a series 2 r33 gtst with 92 on it, all the motor, transmission and right side of the car works and looks like new.

4. and last of all..... long story short i lost control and ended up sitting in the right hand lane of the 3 lane hwy, was sitting there for close to 10 seconds when i was hit in the side and that was what wrote off my car, now quiet a few people have told me if i was to take the guy to court it would be an easy win as he wasn’t watching the road, i might be charged with neg driving but i should be able to get my money back....... just wanted to see if that sounds correct to you guys or if its a total load of shit.

and just incase anyone was wondering.... no i wasn’t insured :D

I'm sorry to hear of your accident and I hope you weren't hurt and are starting to recover from the shock of your loss. There are a lot of wise farts on this forum who I'm sure will be happy to help you out with some sound advice and its amazing what people have sitting around that will help with your rebuild (should you go down that path).

Don't be too overwhelmed, just deal with it in smaller affordable chunks until you get there. We wish you well with it.

well thats why im asking, i assumed it was all my fault but the police and the few ppl i have been though it with say the other guy is responsible. i was sitting there for close to 10 seconds, not moving before i was hit. i had only slight damage before he hit me, and he clearly wasnt watching the road. i totally understand i am at fault as well, but im only asking what you guys think, as most of the time u give good advice. and if u werent so busy being smart ass and had a look at the end of my first post, u would see that i don't have insurance

hey thats heaps unlucky dude. go for the legal advice and see if you can get anything done about it.

its similar to someone rear ending you because you had to avoid an accident, they should have been watching the road, and ten seconds it plenty of time to stop/avoid an accident if that guy was watching the road.

i wasent trying to be smart i cant see the word insurence in your first post at all thats why i asked and put a question mark there .

and im also glad you wasent hurt .

but reading your post and you tell me that your sideways in the wrong lane stopped and you get cleaned up and you ask if you can get the other guy to pay seems a little strange to me .

meh what do i care its not my car thats bent and even if it was i have insurence to sort it out

cheers on getting back on the road soon

ps how do you think the other guy feels knowing he may have been able to kill you cause you was sideways in the wrong lane i bet he is pretty pissed his car is bent cause you cant drive striaght

Exactly, that’s how the cops explained it to me. They said its the same in a pile up, the person the crashes into u from behind has to pay because they weren’t driving to the conditions and are as much at fault . 3-4 cars drove around it, he just wasn’t watching the road and that’s my car is written off.

can i ask how you lost controll in the first place ? i think you might find been sideways blocking a lane is a little diffrent from been rear ended . seek legal advice i would also like to know to answer to this one . you say the other driver wasent driving to conditions .

but at least he was facing the right direction. the fact you lost control suggest that you wernt driving to the condions either .

A degree of fault could be attributed to both parties, yes he should not have been there blocking the lane, having said that the other party should have been driving in a manner which would allow him to either stop or steer around the obstacle.

Unless he was on a blind bend and blocking all lanes.

Make the call.

The word "insured" is in his first post, last line.

1) He may well have been driving like an idiot (I think it was wet that day?). But that's not for us to decide. We weren't there.

2) As far as I'm aware, it's actually legal to be sitting at a complete stand-still in a 100km/h zone, IF you feel that's required of the situation for you to be safe (granted, would be a very unusual situation). And everyone else just has to deal with it.

3) Like he said he's likely to get neg driving. But there is still probably recourse for him to get some form of compensation for the inattentive driver hitting him. Especially if he is injured (go get checked out by a doctor REGARDLESS of whether you are sore or not. Get up, go. Do it NOW. If there is no record of you even going to the doctor to check your health and something happens cos of the crash later, you'll be screwed).

    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
    • EMU Classic. For what I need it to do I see no reason to upgrade. Link and Haltech would both cost an extra chunk of money for a lot of unutilized features
