Someone rear ended me yesterday while I was stationary at a set of lights - other driver completely at fault.

Pushed in left side of rear, smashed light, warped LHS rear quarter panel, boot won't open, etc.

She didn't have any insurance (of course), but I have comprehensive and am now in the process of finding a place for repairs. No one seems very interested, Nissan told me to go to Barrett Bros so they've checked it out and I'm getting a quote from them today (although the guy wasn't very interested there either), and booked in to get a quote from Tony Farrugia on Thursday.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can go?

David Smash Repairs in Queanbeyan do awesome jobs... Barret Bros repaired my sisters Falcon when it was rear-ended, and did one hell of a half arsed job... there were gaps in the doors, boot didnt line up etc, I wouldnt reccomend them to anyone.

David's got it all nice and fixed and flush, awesome job, and they even cleaned the inside and outside of the car before they gave it back! I highly reccomend them.

And on a side note, if Barret Bros cant even fix a Falcon, how are they going to fix a skyline? :?

I'm with Famous and they don't have any preferred repairers. Part of the deal with their policies is that you get to choose who does the repairs I think. They're sending a assessor guy to check it out and then hopefully giving the repairs the all clear. Not easy to find people willing to quote me for an import insurance job, but I got one from David Hand Smash Repairs who seemed good.

Re: Auto-Co, I wouldn't go near them, from both personal experiance and from what I've heard.

There's a thread on PF about a bloke who put his car into a certain smash repairer and within 2 days stuff was pinched from his car when it was parked in the smash repairers workshop.... When he confronted the smash repairer, the stolen stuff magically returned to his car within a few days !!!!

Took the car to David Hand Smash Repairs last Monday, got it back today looking good. Just waiting on indicator light frosted plastic cover thingy, everything else looking like new. Based on my experience I'd certainly go back there.

(and as a side note Famous are paying no probs - but of course they'll presumably get the money from the other party)

      Cams are not needed at this power level, they will create lag. The cam gears are a good idea though.

      @Murray_Calavera yeah, I guessed as much, cooler temps, more boost, less knock, more timing, hello power. Unfortunately not quite within reach ATM, could upgrade my whole fuel system to support but still wouldn't have E85 to run it 😂  Anyway, I changed cams again, 260/260 poncam B and everything else the same except an EBC upgrade. Now I must say I was quite disappointed with the result as it was like running stock cams (didn't try to dial them in as they're supposed to be optimum already) but after awhile I suspected my new EBC was underperforming not to mention difficult to use. I recently swapped back my old EBC and it drives much better now, boost comes on sooner, more stable, no spikes etc, feels all quicker and faster than with stock cams. Planning to fiddle with the cam gears and see what happens but maybe skip the Dyno as I intend to revert to the HKS cams cos they really made the car come alive; low and mid end was unbelievable and it just wanted to rev to the moon, finally knew what people were raving about, RB26 really loves revs. Anyway, Dyno 03 is quite disappointing, in Dyno 02 although peak power was less and trailed off at the top, the low and mid end improvement more than made up for it.

      @Darrel It's so tempting to say e85 is borderline magic. It cools the intake charge, so if you're flirting with the edge of the turbos compressor map it helps dramatically cool down the hot air the turbos are pumping. It is very resistant to detonation so you can crank the timing, I don't really want to say you won't be knock limited anymore.... but you probably wont be knock limited anymore lol. I wouldn't be surprised if you made 20% more power swapping to e85 (provided you have the fuel system to support them, bigger injectors maybe bigger pump etc).

      @Murray_Calavera nah, not available yet, they're gearing up for it but won't be available for a few years. So you reckon fuel is the main issue? When this bottom did over 600rwhp it was running big single, twin Z32 MAFs and believe it or not, e manage blue, an old school piggyback 😅 not really a fair comparison but I guess it shows how a big single differs to smallish twins.

      @Darrel Can you get pump e85 where you are? If you want to max out those turbos, e85 + bigger modern injectors will be the easiest way to get you there.
