having a cut power cut out issues with my 32 and i suspect either stuffed spark plugs or coil packs but of course gona try the sparks as i haven't changed them since i got the car back in may :action-smiley-069:. car is totally stock except for cat back and pod and running stock boost.

went to super cheap and asked for some and he recomended me the ngk coppers. i have read that they are a good plug but have a short lifespan. will these be suited to the car anyway?

plus i don't change the spark plugs myself so i want to get iridiums because i have heard they have a longer lifespan which would be ideal for me when servicing.

iridiums are like $20 at super cheap though and i reckon a rip off. went to repco and the guy said that ngk state the double platinums were best suited to the rb20? quoted me $110. does that sound liek a good price? he told me it was trade price?

so i pretty much just want to know what would be best suited and i think the iridiums are yeh?

can some one tell me where to get a set for a good price? i think kudos motorsport has the best price around at the moment.

let me know. thanks!

The coppers you should use would be BCPR6E. They're heat range 6 and pre-gapped to .8mm which is what you want. The only downside is that you'll have to change them out about every 10thou.

If you go Iridiums, get the same, heat range 6 and pre-gapped to .8mm because you shouldn't re-gap iridiums as it takes the coating off and shortens their life dramatically. So don't buy the 1.1mm iridium.

Iridiums are good for low servicing periods. But some will say just use coppers. I've found my iridiums to be fine so far (at least 35thou now).

But if plugs don't fix your problem.....looks like coilpacks will need to be changed.

some people say you get better power from the copper plugs also.

they really aren't hard to change..

just dont over tighten them.

i would try changing the igniter box before changing coils if the plugs dont fix your problem..

hmm so coppers would be good for about 10,000kms? if thats the case i'll just do the coppers then cause they are on special at super cheap for 4.15 a plug lol.

although the guy at supercheap told me 4,000-5,000kms? can someone confirm?

depends on your boost levels.

you should get 10,000

although i only got 500km out of my last set.

i have bigger problems though..

I'm looking at getting a set of brisk plugs.

www.brisksparkplugs.com.au

heaps of tuning problems.

and ignition problems.

bresciani racing tuned my microtech and done an absolute c unt of a job.

now i have lost faith in the workshops as they charge you an arm AND a leg, then do a shotty job anyway..

so i'm sorting through the problems myself.

If you want something done right do it yourself hey.

I've got a CRD tuned Microtech (previous owner's choice not mine) and it overfuels like a pig - even with splitfires, if I don't change my plugs religiously every 5000km it starts missing due to carbon fouling.

There was another thread about plugs at one point - the consensus was if you've got a reletively stock car Iridiums can be a good choice (the set in my VN have done 80 000km and 3 years fine) but if you're running higher boost then they will degrade quickly, as will coppers, but they are a lot cheaper.

    • We have a huge update coming in the next few months, version 5 of Invision will be released. I'm holding off any changes until after this change as I'm not sure what features will be removed or introduced.
    • Yeah, plenty of air flow, there is a dedicated path that feeds the air in to the OEM intake tube behind the bumper As for a "tangible effect", maybe, but getting the pod/intake air out of the hot engine bay is worth it psychologically to me, even if it gives no performance difference, so the tangible effect in my Lizard brain saysss yessss  In the end, to me a tangible effect isn't always about performance, sometimes it a sound or a look, or even a...... feeling  Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga
    • yeah first and reverse is where you will find clutch release issues (whether hydraulic or mechanical) because the difference in revs required is the highest there; particularly changing down from 2nd to 1st when still moving. To be clearer though, it is possible that the clutch release bearing is the wrong height. This is less likely than a hydraulic issue but it is not unheard of when you are mixing and matching

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
