I already have a microtech lt12s ecu, but im having ignition problems.

i will be running six coils and im looking at getting a microtech x6 ignition module to replace the standard one.

apparently they can handle more dwell.

all up the coils are $300 with mounting brackets and the ignition module is $150.

so both are still cheaper then splitfires..

$50 cheaper...

to bring in another element of questional reliability and so on (when factory/replacement factory is beyond adequate), its not worth it for $50-$100

So you are saying to get splitfire or stay standard??

my reliability is out the window at the moment with the setup i have so i need to try something hey..

bullshit

it'll only be a problem if they arent installed properly

not bullshit at all.

when you change something from factory (thats worked fine for 20 years), you bring in another element to track down, makes things harder to look for etc.

The more stock the car, the easier to diagnose common problems.

When you've changed everything but the kitchen sink it makes it harder.

My car uses more stock parts than ever before (when i had a RB25) and troubleshooting now is a piece of piss

No that's not what its like saying at all.

You can change what's needed to achieve a goal, however changing something that isnt needed, serves little to no purpose which is whats going on here altering from the factory setup

I already have a microtech lt12s ecu, but im having ignition problems.

Why are you having ignition proplem's thou???

Go to the main power feed wire for your coil's, (will be white or white/black) see what voltage you have on idle, then rev the engine up, as your alternator charges up to 13-14 volt's, see if you get the same reading at your main coil feed wire??

I bet you dont, which mean's on full load, your getting voltage drop, and your coil's are breaking down...

Try it.

i tested the feed + wire earlier before reading this but i didn't test it while it was running.

I'm getting 12.2 volts with the ignition on but not running and the battery measures 12.4 volts.

I'l test what you said soon and post my results.

thanks for the help.

i also changed my spark plugs again and removed some fuel from the tune when off boost

i think it's an over fueling issue also compounding the problem.

but i dont have a exhaust sniffer (air/fuel) meter so i'm a bit cautious of leaning it out.

Well thats .2 of a volt lose with ignition ON, wait till you rev it up then if you loose more than 1volt, imagon that on full load, you would end up loosing 3-4 volt's to your coil's, there is your ignition break down, not the coil's fault.

Hope that help's you out.

Goodluck.

    • The spray cans were in the "Kiln" room whilst I was preping the parts,  so probably around 2 hours to get them warmed up, the kiln room has 3 small ovens running at 100°c, 3 medium sized ovens running 100°c, and the large one I used running at 80°c, the room itself was about 28°c, I also spent a bit of time taping up the parts in the room as well, and by the time I was done I would assume that the parts were around that 28°c As for power, I expect a couple of Killerwasps up high would be achievable with the current mods, I'm still running the MZR 2.0 intake and throttle body, and there is a slight mismatch with the 2.0 intake (smaller) and 2.5 intake ports (larger) on the head, this intake is matched and specifically designed to fix this issue with the ports mismatch, the throttle body is also a couple of mm larger, OEM is 65mm, the Bosch is 68mm In the end it will look "prettier" than the molded plastic thing that is the OEM MZR 2.0 intake As for the LSD, it's the OEM Torsen which works fine for what I use the car for, plus, basically no maintenance apart from the occasional oil change

    • Mate , I have the same issue right now with the exhaust noise , if you can tell me what your local guy did , I'll talk to my guys and see if they can do the same. Power is good but it just too loud when put it down.
    • The other trick I've found with wrinkle black is to put the can in hot water for a bit to warm the paint up, and to pre-heat whatever you're painting. It'll be interesting to see if you pick up any power with the intake, following with interest. Got a proper lsd for this?
