s1.533
HKS, but not sure of the model. i think they're hipermax maybe? it got black springs and purple screws [where you turn to adjust the height] well that suck if it doesnt have it. what can i do to make the ride a bit softer? my missus said if she was pregnant the baby would of fell out already Edited January 30, 2009 by s1.533 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/253810-are-these-damper-adj/#findComment-4399060 Share on other sites
jazzy_j
Pull one of the coilovers out and see if you can find any numbers on them and google those. If they are HKS I would think they would be adjustable. I know the D2 coilovers that just jap sell use a long allen key style adjusting rod that goes down through the top. Sheng
yeah, unsure about HKS, but i know all other brands will need a allen key to adj the softness etc, it should be easy, try to turn it with your fingers (the very top part of your picture), and even try to turn it with a rachoet set or something, maybe put some wd40 on it to grease it up a bit. Sheng
mmmm... ok Those prob not adjustable then. don't force anything, might snap something lol if you wanna jack it up a bit, it's pretty simple, just use the c-spanner on teh purple hub, and wind it up, make sure you put some degreser or wd40 on it to loose it up a bit, and also jack it up the car while you doing it. but you can always to it to a suspension shop to get it fix Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/253810-are-these-damper-adj/#findComment-4410297 Share on other sites
lidz
yeah they're HKS Hipermax's, unsure if 1's or 2's but thinking hipermax 1's as you have the anodized spacers rather than helper springs. May be wrong about that though. More importantly they are damper adjustable. Dont use a spanner on the top, you need a long allen key as mentioned earlier. Sorry but cant remember what size & mine is at my folks place so not at hand to check for you, perhaps get onto the HKS USA or japan websites & you might be able to find the info (or order the tool). They might not 'click' as in make a noise but as you turn it you should be able to feel it as it adjusts. If they're Hipermax 1's you should have about 12 steps of adjustment, if they're 2's you'll have up to 30. As for adjusting the height you need to jack the car up to take the weight off the spring. Then you need 2 C spanners & you spin them in opposite directions. As mentioned soak them with wd40 or something to loosen them up. oh & the middle bit will just be sitting there, its just a spacer so your springs dont bounce around when the weights taken off the shock, you need to spin the top nut & bottom nut. quality shocks by the way, just tell the missus to suck it up! dori34
you need the HKS allen key damper adjuster knobs to adjust it, they go in the tiny hole on top of the strut. top right of the pic Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/253810-are-these-damper-adj/#findComment-4413280 Share on other sites
