Hi all,

Well as most of the regulars here would be aware, Chefstagea (adam) and myself were flying to sydney on Monday morning (yes Aus. day), to pick up the S2 260RS he's interested in.

So far he's:

  • Paid a deposit
  • Paid insurance (got it sorted prior so we were covered on the drive home)
  • Paid for 2 one way air faires to sydney
  • Purchased some bits and peices incase dramas mechanically occured on the way back (hoses belts ect.. ect..)
  • Put his current car back to stock for sale and pretty much have a buyer lined up for purchase this week when we get back
  • We'be both organised time off work aswell.

As hes a cheff and its sat night hes at work... AND GETS THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE AROUND 9pm:

"Hi Adam sorry it's late, had some bad news this weekend I will be flying out of the country tomorrow night I have to put off the car for the forseeable future. I will refund any costs you have incurred for flights and your deposit. I will only be able to access email from tomorrow as phone wont work over there, send me your bank details. Please acept my apology I cant say much more than that right now.

What shall we do? Is their anything we can? Dudes not answering calls or anything.

Cheers,

Chris and Adam

Ouuuch.. Sounds like you had all of the bases covered as you should..

He's either ripped your mate off, or he's gotten a little bit too happy and crashed the car. Therefore stalling you until he can get it repaired (ie. "Going on holidays").

If there's anything I dislike more than a liar, it's a liar who lies to good people.

Good luck to your mate in getting the car, or his money back!

yeah don't assume he is jerking you around until it becomes obvious he is. but the next few days will be very telling.

call the insurance company and cancel the policy, they should give you a full refund as there is a cooling off period for insurance policies.

call the bank and cancel the loan, they should have a cooling off period as well.

then chase this guy for the cost of the flights and your deposit refund. i think $600 out of him is a fair price and unfortunately you got stuffed around trying to buy a car but if he pays for your flights then he has lost out by withdrawing the sale.

one thing i always do when looking at cars interstate is ask for a landline home number as its more easier to chase up then a mobile number.

where is this guy located in syd?

perhaps one of us sydney siders can swing past and see if his storie is true with what he told you?

gl mate , hope u get it sorted out.

firstly, if you ask for assistance why not provide sufficient info to enable an informed reply?

so you did get a proper address to meet in Sydney (in lieu of a McDonalds or say George St City at appointed hour): and/or you also got a copy sent to you of his driving licence and/or the rego papers which each show a proper address ? if no why not?

basically forget about the car even if it does exist - you would not want it now unless you are certifiable - and promptly sms text response to him accepting the refund offer and specifying the $relevant amount - adding where paymant should be mailed - do not give your bank details (esp if he has all your other details) - wait 5 working days and if no meoney arrives repeat sms text/email and say if money not repaid will be treating matter as fraud and action via Police

do not delete messages from mobile fone - may serve as future evidence

hey guys.. well ive spoek to qantas and they were champs... they gave me a credit (so i swaped them for a brissy flight to sus another 1 out) im only out of pocket for the deposit of 200$ ill chase and chase him but i guess i just got sucked in! i have an adress home number and mobile.. names and bank details but yeah. not much i can do. ive spoken to a few guys and they might swing past and c if they can c the car or any one there and if so ill go from there. remembering it could be a legit excuse!

you can speak to your bank

and ask them to redirect the funds back into your account, just say you accidentally transferred it to the wrong account.

theyll charge u like $30 or so to get it done but at least ull get your money back

gee sounds like hes ripping you off...

or like one of the guys said....he might of f**ked the car in a way and is getting it fixed

or god knows..he might have got it impounded over the long weekend and is trying to get it BACK from his "HOLIDAY"

Keep us posted......

im glad your pretty patient about this, i wouldve tried to trace his address via his mobile no# and shoot the guy hey.......

f@#$ asshole........

good luck dude... hope he at least refunds you for your costs...

keep all text messages & details of time etc... just incase you decide to take it to court

sounds like he was fairly nice.. if he was going to rip you off why would he even bother messaging you?

ever heard of cold feet? he might have reconcidered or for the fact had a actual emergency. I wouldnt worry to much just chase up the money and be done with it.

all in all i dont think hes trying to rip you, if he was most likely they'd meet and jack the cash. good luck!

his address that he gave chef stagea is a holden dealership/service centre.

so pretty sure he has been scammed.

If you know which dealership, just call them and ask for whatever his name is. They may tell you that he's "on holiday", or actually put him on the phone for you!

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
