ok i went 2 cop stn this arvo. they said i cant write a letter of everything that happened and put a copy of the fine with it. send it to this place, they'll review it, put it on hold and see where it goes from there. if they see i wasnt in the wrong im all good if not i can go 2 court. when i told him i had only just been over speed bump and not even 20m later i get pulled over for doin 72km in 50 zone he looked surprised. then when i said that the cop was tailgatin me he said oh definatly put this letter in. so fingers crossed

basically say you were trying to evade a tailgater and get out of their way or out of fear. I've been advised of ppl being followed for the purpose of stealing their car so it's not such a far fetched idea that this happens.

They ask you about the previous few years when first getting the policy but not after that, nothing mentioned in the policy handbook anyway.

Pretty sure they say that YOU have to make them aware of any further infringements, the onus is on YOU to make sure THEY are aware of your driving record. Maybe it only applies for serious offences.

as u suggested its usually only meant for accidents that were ur fault or loss of licence etc etc.

not for getting dermit points... for example going 12kmh over the limit and getting 1 dermit point.

TBH I don't really care, but I think before any of you take anything for granted, you should call your insurance company and find out.

I was only stating what *I* was told in an effort to stop anyone getting taken for a ride by an insurance company trying to weasel out of a claim.

generally when they try to weasel out of a claim of say 4-6k just keep bugging them about it and say youll take it to court. Generally it's cheaper for the insurance company just to pay you out, I know this firsthand and if you'd like anything answered by someone who works in the industry you can pm me. (I don't work in the industry, someone close to me does and isnt just a ground level chump either)

you can say you had to spped up to avoid having an accident, this does work in some cases ie passing a red light because person behind you was sticking wright to your bumper. all you have to do is explain the cop was travelling dangerously close to your car (not slowing down for speed bumps) so you tryed to avoid the dangours driver as he was to close for you to attempt to pull over and let him pass. the wost that can happen is you still get your fine but if the cop does this several times evetually court will have to let people off.

one of the best things we could do as a motor enthusiast group is to keep a forum open to names and action of dangour cop driving and thing they do to unlawfuly to take are point eventully if someone name comes up a few times it can be used as evidence and i know this has been done to cops who pick on groups of people.

p.s what a f**kign wanker

I somewhat doubt that "I had to SPEED up to AVOID an accident" would hold up in court very well, but I very well could be wrong never been a situation like this.

Anyway how did this situtation go, get a court summon yet and what not?

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
    • The best part is when you own the car long enough that you look back and find your OWN ham fisted amateur shit!
    • The annoying part about neglect, is when you start to replace one thing, and find ten more broken things. Ham fisted monkey repairs you normally only find out about when trying to do something unrelated! Ha ha   Neglect you can kind of anticipate the huge costs to fix it all. Ham fistedness is normally a shock the first time your work on a new old car, as everything "looked" good before.
