So I have this big brake kit, and some r34 ohlins. Although the sane choice is to pay a workshop

the fun choice is to do it myself.

So what do I need for tools? is there any traps? I've watched a youtube clip and I can see a

rubber hammer, and grinder (looks like a sort of super dremel) used for cutting more space

into the backing plate..

What about the coilovers?

Do i need to remove the rear parcel shelf to get at the mounting points?

how about the brake fluid? I think the kit comes with fluid, so I need to drain, re-fill and flush the

air out?

Since I'll be selling my r34 brembo set, maybe I should be asking if a handy buyer wants to come

along to help me remove them, I can learn from them?

I don't even have a trolley jack. I can hire one from kennards at a ridiculous rate for 24 hours..

but i have a nice space to work in and time on my hands..

Unfortunatelly I cant tell you much because I dont own a 34. If it were 32, this would be a completely different story. but the basics should still be the same. 2 nuts at the top of each strut top. A nut and bolt at each suspension arm. Take wheel off, remove calipar (4 bolts on the inside part of the calipar). Remove disk (you may need to remove the rubber cap and screw some long bolts to remove the rears), brake lines. Put new brakes on, bleed system etc. Im sure someone will come with finer details that I can't provide.

But just a quick word from my experiences - Jack stands. Cheap. Safe. Awesome.

Borrow or hire a jack stand for an hour. Jack the car up front and rear. Slap the stands under it. Return jack. Then reverse.

Done this recently. Stuff you need:

JACK STANDS four.

Spanners (metric).

Sockets (metric) - for when the spanners don't fit.

Allen keys for any cup head screws.

Soft hammer.

Multigrips.

Hose etc to bleed the brakes into.

A shit load of rags.

Emulsifier of your choice (ie brake cleaner, WD40, degreaser whatever)

Bandaids.

Stuff that is useful:

Air tools. (To rattle off recalcitrant bolts, grinding etc)

An assortment of screw drivers, levers etc etc to generally convince things to move to where you want them to be.

Beer.

Take your time & think about what you are doing before you do it.

Don't spill brake fluid on anything if you can help it.

Don't over torque stuff.

Don't be surprised when things don't fit properly, least of all the hoses.

thanks,

two jack stands is workable? do one side of the car on a tilt, then the other?

    • Ok I get you. But isn’t the butterfly intake a headache with the +T?  see this is my plan so far but please advise me into the right direction.  Nistune Ecu, 1000cc Bosch injectors, TD05 or TD06 Kinugawa turbo using stock rb25det exhuast manifold, walbro fuel pump unsure of model I think it’s 450/460, spitfire coils and sparks to suit and a R35 MAF sensor and boost sensor.    I was thinking maybe do a cheap eBay plenum $400-500 or try find a stock det neo intake. I think I’d port match it so it’s getting the full capacity but open to advice please.  Thanks
    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
