yeah it will stall....

even with a full block off plate in the bov (for fulleh sik flutterz) it will stall.

at low rpm, like braking to turn a right angle corner across lanes slow speed etc. aftermarket bov or blocked bov will stall with the auto.....

so.. what to do?

grab a piece of metal, thicker than a coke can preferably.

grab the bov gasket, and cut metal to shape. Im using some .5mm thick aluminium plate.

so cut to shape, drill 2x bolt holes, then with smaller drill bit drill a couple of small airflow holes - circular like in the centre for some minor airflow

install nice and tight

test drive, you'll still have the bov, but it will flutter a bit, boost feels "tighter" (?),

because it isnt entirely blocked off it wont ever stall but sounds pretty cool (just like a $200 aftermarket bov, tried that) and boost pressure seems to be slightly more "on tap" than previously

wife loves it, hated it when she stalled it, so I drilled the little holes in the middle of the block off plate and now it doesnt stall but flutters very nicely indeed :P hektic-br0

ahh ok cool....so jus get a blanking plate...and install one of them....but make sure i put some small holes in the middle of it so it has some air flow to stop the stalling???

yes!!

coke can will do, but thicker metal seems less dodgy to me :P

my centre-drilled bov block off plate is nicely filed and machined, 30min home project after a few bongs ey? !

hi

i am confused what you want to do?

a) make the car make bov noises?

b) fit a different bov?

c) make it flutter ?

if a, fit a pod filter, the std GTST already has a bov

if b, change the bov to a different one, just dont go for an AMTO venting one, that will make the car stall

if c, block the std bov off as Tangles has said, that will make it surge and flutter

the stalling occurs when using an AMTO setup, that is, you dump the bov'd to the atmosphere

on auto paul even with full plumback ater-market bov it will stall

with blocked bov it will stall

only ever occasionally but will do

so you do the bov backing plate, put some small holes thru the centre of it, and it wont stall, but will be like option ©

Brendo, you FAIL

Blocked bov, havent stalled it yet! Rev's hunt if i am WOT thru 1-3 then stomp on the brakes(eg, fwy  )

i blocked mine to see if my FMIC would make good sounds, its shit, so unblocking it.

even if it does stall, if you can drive with webbers, you can drive a car with an atmo or blocked bov

Had no probs on the rally car with atmo BOV and it runs AFM. Used to with the old Blitz but changed it to a GFB Stealth and set to full atmo and no probs. Used to stall with the blitz as the piston wasn't closing so had to continually stab the throttle when braking to a stop. Was no probs though.

Was thinking of taking the Stealth off the Mazda to put on the GTR cos you can vent just enough air back to the inlet to stop the stalling but still get the sound of the atmo BOV. Dunno yet if I'll do it but might be fun for a while, I do miss the sound it makes.

Guest jaysiin001

i have been told stalling issues will occur.

however i have a megasonic on my r33 manual. it does not stall.

it only stalls if i have the a/c going and when i change gears. but, if i change gears at a normal pace it stays alive. but it i change gears slow and let the revs go down, it will stay down and stall.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
