just a quick question for those of you who may know what is the best diff for my 84 r30 and what cars can i grab one from. i have heard that subaru wrx's have r180 lsd's but do they bolt straight in and do the rear cv's have to be modified. also is there aftermarket alternatives that i can look at that mite be better suited. The cars original intention (before i bought it) was to drift and was equipped with a locker but i'm headed towards just all round tuning for daily driving and the locked diff is very frustrating if your not tryin to drive the car hard.

so yous is a r30? aka r180 diff? yes the sti subarus use a r180. normal wrx ones use a r160.( shafts/splines all differant)

unfortinatly the r180 lsd is evan more expencive than a r200 lsd. expect to pay 1500 just for the centre secondhand(rally use and fit anything nissan/datsun irs. hence the expence. ps(you will need to get it shimmed up as i stripped mine in my dr30rs. (r180 lsd)

you would be better off chasing a dr30 rs turbo rear end complete. same money but you have a r200 with bigger shafts and bigger rear brakes that use the same pads as a s15 200sx.

if you can find a late model one (84 up) comes with a 4.11 ratio not 3.9. and 14mm crownwheel bolts so all aftermarket skyline/silvia lsds bolt into the housing)

hope that helps.

    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
