Just pay as normal but depending on how many points you had left prior to this speeding offence, you may lose your licence again once you finish the suspension you're going on. If you were to receive a speeding fine after the suspension period starts then you would be in trouble.

Happened to me heaps of times, they will just issue another overlapping suspension. So if its a month after u got ur last one then you will lose it for a month extra instead of six extra or whatever your original suspension was

Easiest way: Ring the RTA directly and ask them. They will give you the most accurate answer. The police don't know much about ths type of stuff generally.

The fact is; you haven't lost points, you have accumulated points greater then what your licence allows.

I you are on your greens, you can't accumulate more then 7. If you accumulate more then 7 points, you loose your licence.

Suspension periods

Reaching or exceeding the demerit points limit results in licence suspension. The RTA will send a Notice of Suspension to licence holders who reach or exceed the number of points available for their type of licence.

The period of suspension depends on the number of points accumulated and the type of licence held. For unrestricted gold, silver or magenta licence holders, the suspension periods are:

12 to 15 points: three months.

16 to 19 points: four months.

20 or more points: five months.

For provisional licence holders, the suspension period is three months.

When you get your license back, its going to come directly off the new points you received.

+1 I agree. When you get your licence back with fresh points, you'll lose 3 of them straight off.

What speeding fine you get? Cause you may get an extra suspension for that. And extra suspensions do not overlap in nsw as someone previously said. You receive the extra suspension after you finish the original one.
