I was sitting at work today fiddling with CAD and decided that I'm going to make up a few Coffee Table Tops.

They will be around 1200x600 maybe a little bigger if you want and it will be in 12mm Clear Glass or 12mm Grey.

The CNC Machine has a tool that is able to engrave pictures etc in to glass.

SO..

I was thinking about the 'S' Bonnet Emblum on the skyline or even the GTR badge to be engraved in to the glass on the bottom side so that the top is smooth but it can be seen from the top.

It gives a type of sandblasted effect that is around 1.5-2mm wide.

A Mate of mine has recently done a table with a Tickford sign engraved for his self and it turned out unbelievable. Looked excellent.

So who would be interested?

Hit me with some ideas with what picture/s we could use on the coffee table.

I got a quick quote and with the table having a nice OG Edge which is similiar to the bottom edge of the glass having a lip then it smooths in to the glass.

It will be no more than $200 depending if you go for clear/grey and the type of edge work you want.

Obviously a Flat smooth edge is quite a bit cheaper but doesn't look any where near as good.

It sounds expensive but it looks great and the glass can also be Toughened if you like.

I don't know how we will go for copyright here but any suggestions?

I'm going to fiddle around with a few pictures that I have of the Rear of my Skyline and see if i can get it looking any good on a test piece of glass.

I'm obviously not going to pump out a huge amount of these things as I'm saying there for Family/Friends so basically they are just for a few of the blokes in Adelaide, SAU/SDU.

I'll post how much people off the street get charged tomorrow, just for a comparison.

Speaking of coffee tables heres one i prepared earlier.

Just kidding, I made this at school last term, pity I didnt get on the forums sooner I could have had my glass engraved.

I got my glass from B&M at charles st unley, it was only $15 for the 6mm bit in that table. You should try there if you need glass, they have all thicknesses and colours.

I reckon the 'S' symbol would be good, ive got a crappy shot of the one on my car, its a bit dirty but ok. Ill put it up too.

6mm is pretty cheap but the type of coffee table that i am talking about has no edges that is why edgework is required which is an OG Edge it looks very nice ..

How can i explain it.

It is an oval shape that is 12mm thick and has a ......

I'll post a rough pic of the edgework.

The reason why it is so expensive is the time that is taken to do the work.. if you want a normal flat edge or round edge then it would be considerably cheaper as the OG edge looks excellent but takes a long time.

Also I am able to use any glass the thinner the cheaper.

Anything is possible except an OG edge on any thickness except 12mm.

I know the sort of thing you mean, one of the guys at school is making a table with only glass on top. Also taht piece in my table is only 650x350mm, pretty small, but i got it at about 1/3 price cos we get all the glass for tech through that place.

damnnn cant remebr what else you wrote. anyway sounds like a good idea, so good luck.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
