I took some logs of the street races and i am pretty embaressed to say that i totally botched the race with that torana... i stuffed up hardcore. :)

I got some data together, i did forget to set the ecu to log SPEED as well  so i got the data that was logged and set it up into a excel spread sheet.

You can see that the stupid anti lag did not spool as fast for some reason, i think i was too slow on the throttle and i dropped the clutch at 3100rpm when racing that Torana Drag car compared to when i raced the Datto 1200 ute i dropped it at 6100rpm+.

So yeah here is the screen shot and the xl spreadsheet if anyone is interested in checking it out. I cannot say that i would have beaten the Torana if i launched properly because its best quarter is a 8.7 second quarter mile but I can say things may have been different. I guess its all a big learning curve and i know now what NOT to do next time.

Anyways if anyone can give me some ideas on where i stuffed up or whatever then go for it.. I can take constructive critisism.

I converted the boost levels every now and then from KPA to PSI so you guys understand the boost levels i was running, over 30psi!! - 2 bar of boost.

Metric Converter is here, put the boost kpa in my log into absolute KPA to get the PSI

And just to comment on the data..... even though you botched the drag car run with the antilag , its obviously alot smoother.... whereas your having to be on /off throttle alot more with the ute run.....

So maybe you need to try a lower rpm limit to reduce crazy wheelspin on launch for when it does boost up properly ? Obviously wheelspin is always going to be there with your power, but the drag car runs shows higher boost and more consistent, so if you can get this with the more instant responce of the dato run......

This is on pump fuel too isnt it ??

yeah.. thats the one.. its a 8 second drag car with wheelie bars and chute!

it would not have looked so bad if i did not stuff up the start but you get that

You do know that this Torana won ?

when you ramp near 30 psi your afrs plummet to low 10s

is this by design as part of a safety catch?

your probably sacrificing power / throughput to cram more boost in safely - ie there might be no gain from this, or it could be negative gain

you might find more power / throughput from less boost and mid 12.5 afr instead

Yeah I like to run my engine rich. Especially for power cruise I was expecting it to get hot and I wanted to keep the temps down as much as i could so I tuned it this way.

I never tune my car to 12.5. I would rather sacrifice 10kw and have heaps of extra cooling there then have a tune on the edge which will detonate when the air temps get up there..

The car ran hard all weekend, 3 days worth of thrashing the crap out of it and the engine did not miss a beat! Yes i did go through a full tank of fuel in 190km's worth of track time in ONE day but i had damn good fun doing it.

I normally run 11.3 - 11.5afr on cars I tune with a fair amount of power. Its just safer that way, my 10afr stunt was just something I did for my car because the weather was a bit up there on the sat and sunday.

This was tuned on BP98 and was running on Shell optimax half the time at power cruise.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
