hello all, now i admit i am new to cars and turbos and stuff and probably dont know wat im on about, but i havea hks ssbov and everywhere i go people seem to be bad mouthing it becuase it apparently makes ur car stall and shit like that.

now i went through those problems as well, but i later found that wen having a hks ssbov u are also required to have a hks idle stabaliser, and wen i got that in, everything worked like a charm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flutter is not from the BOV it is from the air flowing back through the turbo. It's not good for the turbo at all. Obviously by over-tightening the BOV you're gonna end up with the air going thru the turbo as it can't vent, hence the flutter.

One of the things about Jap BOV's is that unlike ones from Oz they aren't all simply products of the metal laythe....A lot of Jap ones are actually cast items, this is why they are far more expensive. From memory the HKS Sequencial BOV is not adjustable, I had one a long time ago on my starlet. The Super Sequencial is though.....then of course there is the Super Racing BOV from HKS, now that's expensive :)

As I said I don't think you can adjust the older one. If yours has adjustment then what it does is put more pre-load on the actualto spring insied the bov and makes it hard to force open, you do this if you run higher boost (set it soft for low boost cars and hard for cars with much higher boost) The basic rule of thumb is set it hard so you hear the flutter then back it off till you can't here it any more ..... that should be the right setting.

because the SSQV as 2 valves, the smaller purple pointy thingy and the bigger valve with the HKS wordings...the screw only adjusts the tightness of the big valve.

i've yet to solve the damn fluttering problem because of this...no matter how loose i turn it.....it only affects the bigger valve...
