Thats exactly it Revhead. I have no desire to look at CP or bomb instructions, but you can guarantee there will be scope creep with something like this. Before long, everything the gov't doesn't like will be censored.

In my opinion, the government is spending FAR too much time and money trying to do parents' jobs for them, which in turn makes parents less responsible, and thus worse parents, so the gov't tries to do more, etc.

We are rapidly coming a police state where the gov't decides everything we do, and I don't like it.

The worst bit is that they believe they're doing the right thing, so convincing them otherwise is likely to be virtually impossible. A bit like trying to convince the pope that religion is wrong lol. The thing that shits me most though is how, despite all the opposition and downvotes and whatnot, they've just decided to do it anyway. People the ilk of the "think of the children" brigade and Today Tonight watchers will probably applaud it, but then they're the types that advocate kneejerk idiocy so why should this be any different.

And yes, I won't be surprised to see it gradually morph into a system similar to the one in China, where apparently they censor anything unfavourable to the govt. Try being in China and looking up anything on Tianenmen (sp?) Square. They just deny it ever happened and censor any reference to it.

How they ever hope to learn from the past by denying its existence is beyond me!

Well this is possibly the key motive i believe. 'Control' the more they can control the better. Bring in the system under the disguise of protecting and serving. This is similar strategy to what the yanks are doing right now with the Matrix system. Under the disguise of preventing terrorism.

kinda like boiling a frog.. aint it. "If you put a frog in boiling water, it will leap out. But if you bring it to boil slowly, the frog will sit and die"

... or move to another country :)

That would also have the added bonus of cars not being quite so ridiculously overpriced like they are here!

Im losing my voice.

God I sound hot with this husky tone

mp3sorban

very much looking forward to the cricket, shame im going to be out of the office all arvo

I should hopefully be home at a decent hour, and being the perth test should be able to catch a fair bit of it (I think it goes till about 9pm or something, gotta love those backwater westerners being 2 hours behind :P)

Thats politicians for you.

See my sig.

What we need is a good old fashioned revolution!

Exactly. I hate it! Govts job is not to control, it is to provide.

Yep. Currently top of my list are NZ south island and Canada.

ugh read everything no time to reply to everything I want to. My Iphone has died in the ass so I have lost all my contacts swapping back to an old phone. All you bitches txt me so I've got every1s number. John do you still want picking up tomorrow? Let me know what's going on lol. I'm in work atm stealing internets haha.

Nah not me mate, I don't have access to the bank accounts or anything, the guys down south take care of all that stuff.

The donation option used to be in the My Controls section (under Subscriptions) but as I understand it Christian's turned off donations for the time being. It might come back with the IPB 3 upgrade - if I hear anything one way or another I'll let you guys know :)

You know it

And Love it

Ok. They make it hard :S

Knew I'd seen some info somewhere:

Donations for the time being are ON HOLD.

I need to make some changes, setup a new PayPal link and redo the way it was all being actioned.

Gimme a week or two, need to have a think about it and im busy with other tasks at the moment.

There are benefits. Increase PM space, flood control removed, PM sending control removed - pretty sure they are the things you get at present.

Don't PM me - i will create a new Announcement on the forum with the information, how to donate, what you get etc etc.

I get too many PM's per day as it is, it'll just get lost :)

Can donations be made yet?
No.

At present, due to issues with PayPal - it is not possible to provide a time as to when it will be back online either.

So it looks like it will be coming back as soon as PayPal sort out whatever it is that's buggered.

yea Ive thought about that. Moving to somewhere without the rediculus road laws, great living quality and cheap house + land. But on my salary the dream seems so far away :P

If you move, you'll have a different job anyway :P

From my time spent in NZ south island there appears to be no road rules at all. People just do what they want. Surprisingly, it seems to work pretty well.

Guess thats another good argument for less govt control and more making people responsible for themselves

Yeah I've considered BC, parts of Europe, Japan, the US etc. I would consider NZ but a few rellies are from there and they are massive knobends so it's kind of soured me... completely irrational I know but I can't help it haha.

The main thing stopping me for a lot of places is the language barrier, I've seriously considered a move to Japan, I've been there before (albeit briefly) and loved it, and I love the people and the culture (and their cars hehe). Not sure about the 'cheap' bit when it comes to housing and I'm not fluent any more so finding a job that doesn't pay a pittance would be difficult. Parts of Europe would be out for similar reasons. That said I work for a multinational so could possibly get transferred (head office is here in Aus) which might open some options up a little.

It's being seriously considered and we can afford to do it but it's a big leap of faith, and takes us away from our family and friends... sigh, what to do.

woooo ran out of stuff to do just in time for the cricket :)

Hahaha nice :P

Ps updated sig, have been meaning to put it there for a while lol.

    • You won't need to do that if your happy to learn to tune it yourself. You 100% do not need to do that. It is not part of the learning process. It's not like driving on track and 'finding the limit by stepping over the limit'. You should not ever accidently blow up an engine and you should have setup the ECU's engine protection to save you from yourself while you are learning anyway. Plenty of us have tuned their own cars, myself included. We still come here for advice/guidance/new ideas etc.  What have you been doing so far to learn how to tune?
    • Put the ECU's MAP line in your mouth. Blow as hard as you can. You should be able to see about 10 kPa, maybe 15 kPa positive pressure. Suck on it. You should be able to generate a decent vacuum to about the same level also. Note that this is only ~2 psi either way. If the MAP is reading -5 psi all the time, ignition on, engine running or not, driving around or not, then it is severely f**ked. Also, you SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING IT WITHOUT A LOAD REFERENCE. You will break the engine. Badly.
    • Could be correct. Meter might be that far out. Compare against a known 5 ohm 1% resistor.
    • @Murray_Calavera  If I were an expert I wouldn't be in here looking for assistance.  I am extremely computer literate, have above average understanding on how things should be working and how they should tie together.  If I need to go to a professional tuner so be it, but I'd much rather learn and do things myself even if it means looking for some guidance along the way and blowing up a few engines. @GTSBoy  I was hoping it would be as simple as a large vacuum leak somewhere but I'm unable to find anything, all lines seem to be well capped or going where they need to be, and when removed there is vacuum felt on the tube.  It would be odd for the Haltech built in MAP to be faulty, the GTT tune I imported had it enabled from the start, I incorrectly assumed it was reading a signal from the stock MAP, but that doesn't exist.  After running a vacuum hose to the ECU the signal doesn't change more than 0.2 in either direction.   I'll probably upload a video of my settings tomorrow, as it stands I'm able to daily drive, but getting stuttering when giving it gas from idle, so pulling away from lights is a slow process of revving it up and feathering the clutch until its moving, then it will accelerate fine.  It sounds like I need to get to the bottom of the manifold pressure issue, but the ignition timing section is most intimidating to me and will probably let a pro do that part.  Tomorrow I'll try a different vacuum line to T off of, with any luck I selected one that was already bypassed during the DBW swap.  (edit: I went out and did it right now, the line I had chosen did appear to have no vacuum on it, it used to go to the front of the intake, I've now completely blocked that one off at the bracket that holds several vacuum lines by the firewall.  I T'd into the vacuum line that goes from that bracket to the vacuum pump at the front of the car, but no change in the MAP readings).  Using the new vacuum line that has obvious vacuum on the hose, im still only getting readings between -6.0 and -5.2.  I'm wondering why the ECU was detecting -5.3 when nothing was connected to the MAP nipple and ECU MAP selected as the source. @feartherb26  I do have +T in the works but wanted to wait until Spring to start with that swap since this is my good winter AWD vehicle.  When removing the butterfly, did it leave a bunch of holes in the manifold that you needed to plug?  I thought about removing it but assumed it would be a mess.   I notice no difference when capping the vacuum line to it or letting it do its thing.  This whole thing has convinced me to just get a forward facing manifold when the time comes though.
    • Update: tested my spark plugs that are supposed to be 5ohms with a 10% deviation and one gave me a 0 ohms reading and the rest were 3.9ohm<, so one bad and the others on their way out.
