Grrrrrrr can't get damn cat out..... it's held in well with studs + bolts. Got the bolts off but the studs it seems are welded to / are a part of the cat.

Any tips?

Do I have to remove the whole back section of the exhaust to get the cat out? I think I just realised this to be true :P

just work with the wiggle room

exhaust is on hangers, should be able to move it back a bit to get the cat out

its a c*nt of a job on my car, thats why i decided i wasnt going to swap the decat pipe in every track day after doing it once

LOL, found dad's old paperwork for the ride on:

He bought it second hand in 1994, and it was old then:

'twas an 8HP apparently (I thought it was less) but that engine blew up.

He bought the new 10.5HP engine in 1998, at the time it was the biggest one we could get that fit:

I'm not sure how old the mower itself is exactly but I did find the instruction book:

If you look down the bottom, you can note the SIX DIGIT phone number.

Now I remember going from 7 to 8 digits some time in primary school, but 6?

Some quick research, and this very informative page tells me that "Brisbane went to 7 digits in 1975". Therefore, we can conclude that the beast is older than 1975. Thats 35+ years!

And note: it is a mini tractor, not a ride on :P. EEESSSSSSS AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look, you can (could) even get tractor attachments for it:

Definitely needs turbo love

Don't talk to me about ride on trailers, made that mistake once, hung over after new years, we decided to ride in the trailer to clean up the mess we made couldn't find the holding pin to keep it on, going down the hill very fast and the trailer popped off, catapult anyone?

bugger

we could MAKE a trailer for it

matter of fact, there is a small box trailer in the back yard I doubt has any chance of ever getting road registered. Could convert it to a tractor trailer

    • There are black hose clamps as well if you care. Plazmaman for example sells some: https://plazmaman.com/product/black-hose-clamps-premium-quality-stainless-breeze/
    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
