Sup,

Back in Brisbane for a Job interview this afternoon, then back down the coast for the rest of the week. Had the HICAS light come on while on the highway. Pulled off to get some water, light off. Back on the highway and 20 minutes later light back on....grrr! Then, just to make an absolute ass of my self at the first red light I come to in Brisbane I turn the engine off to reset the HICAS light and the damn thing wouldn't start up right away! Bloody turbo timer and kill switch and alarm causing me havoc and backing up traffic on Coro Drive.

I vote me for dumb ass of the day!

Could just need p/s fluid

I thought it was only the 32's that shared the power steering with the HICAS? Isn't it all electric in the 34?

Yeah I'm not sure, you're probably right.

I just know if I saw those symptoms in my 31, I would check the P/S fluid level :)

Hi scott, guess you didn't expect some crazy guys in an Alfa to be on the horn at you. Really need a brumby 4 speed

My parents have had 2 seagate drives fail, my mate had one that never even worked properly from the store. They had a bad(relativly) batch.

Haha! Yeah, I was thinking WTF is with this guy... Look over and see you giving me the international peace sign. Pity you weren't doing 3G......inverted. haha

do holden use the VDO headunits in the commo? you guys getting issues with the sat nav and AM reception on those units?

In news today, offically have been promoted at work to head lotus tech/senior technician, also been given a payrise.

Hahah yer scott i couldn't resist! i thought you would have been freaked out a little.

Pretty sure the brumby has broken something in the box, when you accelerate it sounds like a clicking CV, when cruising along it makes the same noise / bearing noise also but that all goes when you push the clutch in and coast along. So im thinking i'll get a good condition gearbox and a new clutch to throw in, i'll also replace the CV boots and inspect them for wear. Thoughts?

Congrats! Top stuff.

Thoughts?

Tell her to sell it for scrap metal and buy a real car instead

    • Have you done the Ignition Sync Wizard in the AEM software?
    • Find out what RPM it was idling at with the IACV unplugged. It's very weird that the rpm didn't change at all, and then it stalled. When it stalls is it nearly like a switch off, like you've turned the engine off? Or is it more stutters and sputters and coughs to death over a few seconds? Or does the RPM just slowly keep going down and down? Have you done a test of trying to start it with the AFM unplugged? Does it still die?     If you Follow Josh's advice on using Nistune to check the voltages (which is a perfect method!) if you see anything out of wack voltage wise, THEN get the multimeter out and read the voltage directly at the sensor. If the two vary, then you're now looking for a wiring issue vs a sensor issue. So be aware, what the ECU sees, may not be what the sensor is actually saying too...
    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
