Between 2k - 5k depending on what i find/like/want when I have money in my pocket.

Plans depend on what model I find

6kish

?

Nope

Woot bonnet is now fixed!

Lesson learned: DIY

/sigh... $200 gone to the body works shop then to fix up their crappy mistakes at home

lads

boring day is boring

sitting in the office pretending to do work before my 1pm meeting. then will finish for the day

hopefully weather holds out and I may make an appearance tonight

wet weather + cheap tyres + leaky sunroof = shithousen

What did you buy?

Nothing yet.

Not looking at anything interesting either. One of my Volk center caps has gone AWOL, and I've found a number of likely candidates to replace it. Also an R31 keyring :)

Japanese schoolgirl?

Hmmmm.... group buy?

5k will buy you one thats on the road....but not well, unless your very lucky. i payed 4.5 for my girls one ('68 with the roof racks, Venetians etc) but i have rebuilt the motor since in it.....

I found in the 5k bracket you either get one with a good body and stuff drive train, or vice versa. never a nice combo or compromise.

anything below 4k was just plain screwed :(

what happened to the days of buying an old Volkies for 500 bucks slapping some number plates on it and just driving.... :(

oh, and if this rain stays im not coming down tonight...spent too long this arvo saturated in the rain to wanna go out in it again

If you haven't gone, probably a good idea not to go. Another storm just brewed up and is headed our way... again, hail

Shit tonne of hail hit my sisters place @ parkinson

I hear ya. My other bugs cost me $500 and $1300 both straight on the road. There seem to be some half decent ones around at the moment for under 5. Some really nice ones between 6&8. I want to do a lot of the work though. So as long as the engine is decent enough for a daily then i'll settle for a slightly less than decent body.

    • This. The R34 handbrake icon DOES come up when the brake fluid level is low. You might be sitting right on that threshhold. I have been down this diagnosis path and this was the solution (and it was pretty much as full as your picture is to begin with).
    • Unfortunately the cavaet to that is that while any scan tool should be able to read the code, the workshop will need a consult plug to OBD socket adapter. You don't have a location on your profile, where are you based?
    • @Haggerty this is your red flag. In MAP based ECU's the Manifold pressure X RPM calculation is how the engine knows it is actually...running/going through ANY load. You are confusing the term 'base map' with your base VE/Fuel table. When most people say 'base map' they mean the stock entire tune shipped with the ECU, hopefully aimed at a specific car/setup to use as a base for beginning to tune your specific car. Haltech has a lot of documentation (or at least they used to, I expect it to be better now). Read it voraciously.
    • I saw you mention this earlier and it raised a red flag, but I couldn't believe it was real. Yes, the vacuum signal should vary. It is the one and only load signal from the engine to the ECU, and it MUST vary. It is either not connected or is badly f**ked up in some way.
    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
