Mackay is the HSV capital of Australia, why are the locals letting you cut in on their market? watch your back while your up there... :nyaanyaa:

With regards to that 33, considering its got no rego i'd expect 20K for it. Considering he was asking 23K for it before, it seems pretty normal.

Haha yes i know but when the local dealer is charging 5k more for the same product and offering crap service then it is easy to move cars up there. They should be making a killing up there but they dont.

Yup. sell new holden and hsv. well trying to atm as it is very quiet.

Ahh really? I bought a new holden at work yesterday, a colorado. What dealer are you at? Should have talked to you >_<

Morning Mangs. Nother day nother dollar fiddy.

I only get the fiddy :(

On the flip side I get free steak and my job description is "make sure hot chicks get drunk and have a good time" so I guess it kind of evens out :)

I'll ask some of my mates if they're willing to go take a look.

Also, what makes it dodgy?

It is as close to stock as you will find, low km's with documents. Price is comparable to other BNR33's of the same year.

If you know anyone in that area, I'm willing to pay for their time to drive out there etc.

I thought it looked a little bit dodgy due to it being "stock" and for some reason having carbon bits on the exterior and through the interior, as well as the engine being too clean to be 15 years old. Having said that though, could have just been given a full detail when it was brought into the country. He says he has 12months rego, I might send him an email today and ask more about it.

I will have to drive it back to brisbane so I'm hoping it won't fall apart 20 k's down the road. It seemed dodgy because it looks just too good to be true, considering the cleaner, *low* km ones are about 23-26. Having said that it I'd be kicking myself if next week someone else posts up they got it for a steal and it's in tip top condition.

Mackay... ugh. I lived there from year 11 - year 12. At our year 12 graduation I was surprised at the lack of ambition amongst the kids there. We were asked to say what we wanted to do after school and the presenter would read it out as we came on the stage to accept the certificate. 98% of the girls said "Become a hairdresser and marry a rich miner" 98% of the guys said "Get a trade and work in the mines." Needless to say I jumped ship that day and drove to Brisbane (on my L's whattuppppp) 4 years on I'm now IT for BHP.. so I guess I went the same way haha.

Get trade, work in mines, ?????, Profit!

Truck drivers up there make at least double what I do, tradesmen more like 3 times what I make. I often wonder what I am doing running pubs... But then I go back to finishing the cocktail I'm making for the hot blonde with big tits ;)

They're also dropkicks. I've been up there a few times and they certainly work for their money .. well most of them do anyway. Talking 12 - 16 hour shifts for 7 days in a row with 3 days off, or alternate rosters such as 5 on 2 off etc. My favourite is 7 on 7 off but that's either Mt Isa or Groote Eyelandt.

I think a lot more people here in Brisbane are catching onto it, certainly a lot of the younger guys are anyway. Mackay 5 / 6 years ago when I moved up there was hard to find rent for our family when I was living with my Mum, I'd hate to imagine it now considering how flooded it is with young guys and HR licenses.

Agreed. Most contracts you see via Brisbane are 14/7 or 8/6 FIFO so not too bad when you're pulling down six figures plus. I've looked at jobs running the camps and F&B operations in the mines as well. Great coin for what I basically do now, not sure if I could handle the isolation and the lack ofcontact with people other than CUB's.

I honestly wouldn't relocate or work up there full time in my field. The work is better but there's only a 10k site allowance on top of usual salary now if I was on the usual 5/2 roster for the bowen basin, I'd be getting on a flight on a friday night and flying back sunday night, with a group of mates here and into cars etc, I'm not sure the extra $80 a week is really worth it which is why I go up there for the occasional switch upgrade every once and a while, it works out better financially as they pay for flights up and back whereas normally you would be on your own there.

I should also add that IT are the lowest paid on site.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
