Inner West Crew Whoretown (toowong/st Lucia/kenmore/indooroopilly And Sometimes Sunnybank?)

Recommended Posts

it used to play DVD's and have a screen... Which didn't work. Then Chris got his hands on it all and now it has shiny new parts which do work :P

The old radio/tapedeck/cd changer all still work however.

Morning Mangs,

Problems?

Not really a problem... they're just sh*t.

Had to get insurance on the leopard and have heard so many good things about shannons, so I rang them up to get a quote on both cars.

1) They wouldn't put an agreed value on the leopard higher thant the peanuts that I paid for it :(

2) They insisted on a 'restricted driver' clause on BOTH cars. That means that if anyone not listed on the policy drives the car - not covered.

2) Their price to insure the skyline was nearly twice as much as just car, even with their multi policy discount and the restricted driver clause.

Insurance for motoring enthusiasts my a*se.

So then I tried to ring just car to insure the leopard and they were shut :(. Will ring them this morning.

Also, down for Macca's. Will need to figure out how to get home however.

I can drop you home, unless I end up dropping my car at Scotts.

Geez thats a bit rough smitz, I would tell them to shove it too if they treated me like that.

Geez thats a bit riugh smitz, I would tell them to shove it too if they treated me like that.

I did

And when I get the final cost from just car, I will be replying to their (shannons) email quote with a comparison and let them know just what I think of them.

Shannons were a lot more expensive for me as well when I got a quote for the 34. Maybe it's an age thing? I'd guess a majority of their customers are a fair bit older than we are making us the young, inexperienced drivers of their insurance pool? But then again maybe not considering Scott has his cars insured with them and he reckons it was a good price...

They gave me 65% NCD which is rating 1 I'm pretty sure (the same as what I am on just car)

I know other people insured with shannons around my age that are happy with it... so who knows?

If they don't want my business, that's fine. I've been more than happy with just car for the time i've been with them, they have given me no reason to want to leave. The only reason I rang shannons was because I had heard so much good about them.

Boz you need to harass them a little more, most insurance companies need a kick along to get things moving. We do it all the time at work, but we normally have more swing being a dealership

Only downside to Just Car for me is how long they are taking :( Nearly 2 weeks now.

When I got rear ended, car was still driveable so I sorted out two guotes for them myself. That took me a while because I had to find 2 places I was happy with, but once I did that, just car had an assessor out there the next day and then booked in to my preferred repairer a couple of days after that.

It did take a week to get repaired, but that isn't just cars fault.

found out what the delay is. Assessor who was handling my claim went on holidays. He works for the repair shop... Didn't tell anyone (including me) that parts would take over a month to arrive. Won't be in country until 2nd week of April.

f**k my life!

back on the phone to Just car and their response is "Yeah, we didn't get a second quote like we are meant to and we admit that no one here informed you that you could have got your own (which they are meant to according to them) so now if you want to organise your own quotes for repairs you'll have to pull the car out of the shop doing the work and you'll be responsible for the cost of the parts they ordered and work done so far. It's that or suck it up and wait another month."

This is utter bullshit, because of their dicking around it may not be viable (time wise) to organise my own quotes as son of rajab alone knows how long that will take. Beyond that there is the issue that Just Car and the repair guys want to stick me with the bill if I pull my car now to get it repaired elsewhere.

Anyone know if the Financial Services Ombudsman is worth my time and effort or am I just going to be pissing in the wind?

Bummer dude :( Seems like all insurance companies are a*seholes

Have a read of the PDS and see what it says RE two quotes, etc. That might give you an idea whether or not you will have a case with the ombudsman

So who else besides NRMA and the Suncorp owned companies (AAMI, Just Car, Shannons et al.) insures grey imports? Going to vote with my feet once this is all over and NRMA will only cover my car for $12k at a cost of $1300 a year.

    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
