From watching webber drive i think he driving style is that of a perfectionist! let me explain:

from his ability to qualify well, he has it in him to do the best 1 lap effort you can in a car "a perfect lap"

but this puts alot of strain on the car, particually when repeating this over a whole GP. hence all the DNF

be where it shows up most is in traffic, as hes a perfectionist not a racer, has extreme dificulty in overtaing anyone, cant set others up for overtaking, just get owned by those that can all he cares about is his perfect lines!

so while i think he is a very precise and accurate driver with alot of skill, i think he is a very bad racer that doesn't have that "killer" instinct in him

wow it was good to see the friday prac session

Rosberg is really showing some good pace around albert park

Hamilton on the other hand is really strugling with his car by the looks of it....so many drivers making major errors on turns 1 and 3.....should make for an exciting race me thinks

Ferrari didnt do too bad had Massa in the top 10 and Raikonen just outside the top 10

Webber did an excellent job of finishing i think 4th from memory

But how about the Brawn GP drivers....certainly suprising effort by them....its pretty much the Honda team using a different engine.....by that i mean the staffing is still the same with a few minor changes

all and all good session to watch IMHO as drivers were really really struggling at stages of the 90min prac session

so hopefully for Webbers sake he can put in a good lap during the qualifying stage and get himself on the front row or thereabouts...

Watched most of it too, good to feed the addiction!!! Good to see the cars get out of shape with reduced downforce too.

Surprising times from some teams, interesting to know who were doing race simulations on full tanks and which were still doing setup and tyre comparisons on lighter fuel loads..... all will be revealed when they qualify.

this thread definitely has potential and there's clearly a few regular watchers on here that could offer their take or analysis after each race.....no reason why this thread can't stick around for the season so don't give us a reason to shut it down.....not everyone will agree with everything said so just accept it, disagreements and even arguements are fine as long as you don't go all hero on each other.

well said pete and thanks for the support

ohh yeah steve....i noticed one thing though the cars look terrible this season

last season the cars looked much much better

it was interesting to see one of the renault drivers $50+K steering wheel

its got so so many controls....i would be going wtf is going on here

and the drivers make changes (well some) while they are going full pace....amazing just amazing

wow.... those diffusers!!! make such a differance, also good to see the RB's design paying off as well!!

the most interesting thing to me is the time of the race, after about 40 mins into P2 lap times just started to fall off, even late in the session, normally the time for the quickest laps (more rubber/heat in the track) and the front runners using the SS tyres they still couldn't beat rosbergs time from the first 30 mins!

but is going to make for such an interesting weekend!!! loving my tivo atm!! =)

I thought they looked pretty ordinary too at first, by P2 I started to warm to them! Imagine.... pulling 200+ Mph down the front straight at Monza whilst tweaking the wing setting with steering wheel controls, might take them some getting used to me thinks... cool nonetheless.

well those diffusers that your talking about luke is getting a few complains from some of the teams. they are saying that some teams have gone beyond the rules in designing those diffusers.

So how did the qualifying go boys

i missed it as i was at the Old school new age show

Holly crap....take a look at this boys

what a f**king suprise

J.BUTTON

R.BARRICHELLO

S.VETTEL

R.KUBICA

N.ROSBERG

And for everyone that is interested in viewing F1 tomorrow

everything starts at midday and with all the support categories etc and warm up sessions

but as far as i know F1 race starts around the 5pm East Std mark

yeah, damn, was an awsome q session, pirrty webber stuffed up his second run in q3! =\ otherwise it would have been Brawn 1,2 RBR 3,4!!!!

and wow! look at those starting weights! thats some impressive speeds! such an awsome weekend so far!!! next thing to find out is how KERS will impact race starts!!

but i think it looks like it'll be Brawn GP for 1 and 2 and Kubica for 3rd.. webber will be 8th at best (probably finish 9th) or DNF

it would have been Brawn 1,2 RBR 3,4!!!!

Not really surprising to see that RBR are starting to show some signs of speed. Adrain Newey who has designed the RB5 has had massive success in F1. For those that weren't watching GP's in the 90's, Michael Schumacher was the only driver between 1992-2004 to win WDC's against Newey designed cars. Vettel and Webber should be feeling quite confident :thanks:

1992 - Nigel Mansell - Williams by Newey

1993 - Alain Prost - Williams by Newey

1994 - Michael Schumacher - Benneton

1995 - Michael Schumacher - Benneton

1996 - Daman Hill - Williams by Newey

1997 - Jacques Villeneuve - Williams by Newey

1998 - Mika Hakkinen - McLaren by Newey

1999 - Mika Hakkinen - McLaren by Newey

2000-2004 - Michael Schumacher - Ferrari

Newey 6 : Schuey 7

you can probably tell I'm a Ferrari/schuey fan

hahahaha nice one there steve

i remember last season that RBR cars had some serious speeds in them....just a few driver error cost them a bit but that is to be expected when you have a rookie driving as well....and he ended up wining a round...in the wet

KERS is most likely going to be used when drivers are looking to make a pass and make it stick sort of thing....gives you sort of a boost ie little more power to get past the driver your overtaking....

but hang on what if the driver you are overtaking is using the KERS at the same time as well....then its a good luck trying to get past lol

should be a good race and will be good to see if Ferrari can win it from there aye steve

yeah, i know how good newey cars are!! =) read up on alot of the tech specs and inovations (that have been made public) on this RB5 car.

and Krishy, why wouldn't you use KERS off the line? its the best/easiest time in the race to make up places!! if you saw kimi using it yesterday, if your hammering it all the time that you can, you dont get past turn 9 with any charge left

looks like a 3 stop stratergy is the way to go, i dont think the super softs could do anywhere near 1/2 a GP, not only that, as the track cools its going to get worse and worse for them. If i was looking at using them, it'd be in a first stint or 2nd at the latest!

it was a very very good race

kudos to Jenson and and very very lucky rubens...if vettel and kubica didnt take each other out the way they did then they would have been 2nd and 3rd respectively....but thats the way the dice rolls doesnt it....very very dissapointed in the show by Ferrari

lol I wouldn't know how good the race was let alone how well my footy team played......I've been too busy baby sitting a thread all day and still responding back & forth to a certain member that didn't appreciate my warning and wants to continue arguing his point on principle........some peeps need to get a life.

Did anyone tape the race by any chance?

got it on tivo sled... but i dont think that'll be much good to you =\

but awsome race, lotsa over taking, lotsa accidents... webbers bad luck continues! =P

but sucks that vettel got penalised and fined, it was so 50/50!! and lewis ended up 3rd?!? seems a bit wrong, from what i could tell is that lewis intially overtook trulli under saftey car conditions! still race control seemed a bit slack on the first SC

    • Plan on the day will be to park trackside. Depending on space availability we will try put a small shade tent and a few of the cars on top of the hill inside turn 3, this is an easy to get to parking area with views of Turn 2, Turn 3, Turn 4 and Turn 5 and limited other pieces of the view around the track. IMPORTANT NOTE! One consideration from previous years is from memory the trackside parking sells out before the admission tickets, for that reason I encourage anyone planning on coming to buy tickets for parking now via the official website; https://www.worldtimeattack.com/ The type of parking you are looking for is 2 Day Park & View (Access Around Venue) Vehicle Pass Only Please note this does not include admission to the event itself, remember to grab that also, and kids under 12 get in for free!
