Story Goes, I Sold My SSS for a little less than i was after but still got a good price for it. In The Meantime i was driving the VP bommodore around (which i sold to a mate to use in a smash up derby when the rego ran out, fun!) and searching for a new car, I really didnt know what i wanted at all... Had a look at several Audi A3 Turbo's, A Couple of BMW's, a SSS again and even took An Autech N15 2 Door for a test drive. I pretty much decided the euro thing wasnt for me so took a day trip to sydney to have a look at the import yards. Still Being on my P's for another 2 years my choices were fairly limited. But after looking at a few R34's I pretty much decided thats what I wanted.

After concluding all the N/A ones in sydney were either incredibly overpriced OR were not in good enough condition, i set about looking at other states and came across one in victoria at an importer Called CARIZMA. I got them to send me through plenty of high-res pics, made an offer which was too low the first time :P but came back with a higher offer which they accepted.

So after putting down a deposit, a couple weeks later i was on the plane to Melbourne, Flew Out of sydney at 7am and was Back Home by 7:30pm, massive day but it was worth it.

Not a whole lot to tell about the car really... Its completely stock in every way except the headunit (which im impressed with!)

haha yep :P at least... it feels faster when its lower to the ground, Being N/A it needs all the help it can get haha... Not gonna say exactly what it cost me, but if i was to sell it now, id make a good number on top of what i paid (thankyou carizma for buying this before the financial meltdown making imports expensive :P)

  • 1 month later...

Another Wee Update for those playing at home.

Due to the economy being a top bloke, and me now having to travel more than 10mins to work, i decided to pick up a daily for a few reaons, a. save petrol (those of you who own rb25's know what im on about) b. Save putting kays on my beastie, ten point to anyone who can point out who used to own the charade

So whats more efficient than a 3 cylinder 1L Motor?

06052009028.jpg

Nugget: Check lol.

Also making the update list today is the fact i changed the wheels to the 17's the turbo's come with, and what a massive difference (i needed new tires anyway thanks to camber n these were a good price) also notice the window tint which is new. yay.

26042009015p.jpg

26042009016j.jpg

Next on the list is the swappage of a twin tip to a rotor-spec dumpy :) the twin tip made an aweful chugging sound coz of the divider in it, much nicer sound with the dumpy, and it looks uber cool :(

dsc00823p.jpg

Uh-oh, somebody had a dirty tip when they took this photo :)

26042009017.jpg

And this concludes my update, camber arms are coming when i can be bothered gettin my ass to Just Jap, but for now it lives under a cover during the week anyway :P Looking at getting some r888's and then possible track days

nice ride dude, bit low for me but nice none the less, i might point out that im pretty sure your tail lights are not factory

they look very much like an east bear set

Ive been thinking that, althought the L.E.D were a factory option, the differences between the east bear's and the factorys ive got no idea about! I could pull em out n find out, but it doesnt bother me that much! Cheers Tho

It's come along very well.

From stock to now, it looks a hell of a lot better.

I also bought my R32 from Carizma International back in 2005.

Any more mods to come along?

Carizma offered great service to me, were they as good to you?

Mods to come? Nothing major, the interior has a few additions that ill post up sometime, otherwise just some adjustable camber arms at the back, upper for now and ill see if im going to need adjustable lower arms, coz its got a quite alot of camber i wanna get wrid of. Other than that its getting an LSD, n thats about it. I dont wanna pour too much money in it just yet, as i could very well sell it in a year when im off my P's, or it could stay as a daily, not sure yet.

just the way a skyline should be straight clean & dam sexy congrats not many p platers keep them lookin like that sounds like your a bit smarter than the avverage p plate pilot though "well done"

ps take photos of it low then set it back to road hight you will save on tyres and speed hump damage .

even though it looks tough on the deck.

I was under the impression that the NEO (and moreso the non turbo!) motor was quite fuel efficient? :| Or is that just compared to a Pulsar lol.

Put it this way, my car uses more fuel than a 5.7L SS commo on the freeway, i think its got alot to do with the gear ratios - you could probly get better economy from a turbo. My Pulsar hauled ass with fuel economy, i miss it lol.

yea ive seen some rough examples driven by p-platers (more r33's atm as r34's havnt really taken off as much yet, but even so ive seen a few bad r34's) I'll keep the ride height as is, specially seeing ive got a daily now, im interested to slam it a bit more and get some shots tho :D tire issues will be resolved when i get camber arms, im just lazy haha. thanks for the comments tho :D

Melbourne to Sydney in 12 hours, how was the petrol? Go through a few full tanks LOL!

Well since it's N/A fuel should have been OK...

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
