I can't believe some of the ridiculous shit people have posted on that news story on the News website.

5 years prison and a lifetime driving disqualification for speeding? What the f**k?!

Idiotic. It's probably editors of the Advertiser who comment that shit.

As much as this was a tragic happening that without a doubt has now changed many lives, especially those close to the people involved. My thoughts are with those people who are affected by this. I would use the word accident, but both parties would have been well aware of the risks involved therefore it is no accident what happened.

We all learn by our own mistakes, but maybe we should all learn from this tragic incident.

My thoughts are with the family of those lost and of those left behind.

shit... if that isn't a wake up call to those of us who like the occasional squirt on the roads (me included) then i don't know what is. Condolences to their respective families.

Amen brother, talk about wake up call for all of us, none of us are chasing more KW's jsut for the hell of it, we all give it a bit on the odd occasion (or the not so odd.....)

hard to figure it out coz magill is pretty straight, and for BOTH cars to crash.... WTF?!?!

My thoughts are with the affected families, I think we can all see ourselves in the wreckage photos, most of us have dragged other cars from time to time.

I think we'd all be lying if we said we never went over the speed limit. Sure, not 90+kph over but 20+kph over can lead to deaths as well.

Well that's the thing, a lot of the time we think it's just a straight stretch of road, what could possibly go wrong...

True that.

The news report said one driver lost control and hit the other car, so even if your driving/your car were fine the other guy could cause the accident and you'd be finished.

I've never been affected by this stuff but my wife gave birth to our first child, a daughter, 3 days ago, and after seeing that on the news it hit me that if that was me I'd miss the rest of her life.

Was going to clean the car and go out for a drive tonight actually but decided against....

Thats exactly what happened about a year ago at port wakefield when two cars were racing and one careered into a bus

-D

just to make another point, the people saying, oh f**k the driver, i feel bad for the passengers etc etc

they were a willing party in all this, ok maybe i dont know that for sure (they may have been tied to the seat with a gag in their mouth), but pretty good odds that they never piped up and said nup, f**k this, let me out, dont wanna be a part of this, and unless u do u are no better than the driver.

its a tragic event regardless.

very true Troy

118million on a underpass and the government cant chuck in for a garden island motor sport complex

simple as that, government has made it clear that congestion at one intersection is more important than the issue of street racing, what does this tell us? that street racing is only an issue as long as its an issue that they can make money off.

and unfortunately this is the reality, street racing really isnt THAT much of an issue as far as the road toll goes. one death every now and then is peanuts to the road toll, understanding how disrespectful that sounds to anyone who knew Minh.

RIP to the guy...Probably not the smartest place or smartest speeds to be doing in a built up area though....

Building an overpass for the majority will win more votes for the government then building a drag strip for a minority

Amen to that brother, my daughter is 3 weeks old tomorrow and its opened my eyes to alot of things i do....

Agreed mate, f*cking stupid bastards.

Nothing dumber than that crap going around a few years ago about "confiscate their cars and crush them" - that is just a load of crap. Like they were going to change the law to make it legal to crush the cars of us "hoons".

And don't even get me started on the word "hoons"!!!

anymore pics of the 2 cars before they were damaged and after ?? sorry dude we all gotta die sometimes just your time is up... RIP.

i dont know ricardo might of seen minh before, whats his facebook account ?? i wanna just leave a message for the family..

Rest in Peace to Minh!

I would like to say that we have all done stupid things in our cars and some even say that wont happen to me,................ well the sad fact is it can and it has, its happened yesterday, last week, last month and last year

What we all need to remember is that these things are called accidents for a reason, no one set out to hurt anyone or kill anyone but it happens and there is nothing you or i can do about it, it wont be the first and it wont be the last.

So remember that while your all calling them silly and what ever imagine its your neighbour, brother or friend that this has happened to and just be mindful of others feelings!

Sorry to all familys involved for your loss

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
