Hi,

I am very sorry :) if someone has addressed this question before but. I am sure there are some legal issues involved with fitting an FMIC.However I am not really interest in the EPA side of things, but rather the modifications required to fit the Intercooler.

Since I have an R32 GTS-t and from what i understand modifications are required to the area down beside the battery box to fit the return piping for an FMIC, isnt this part of the chassis (Therefor illegal)?

Furthermore Reo bar modification is also required (Legal?).

I ask this because I am pondering on whether or not to get an RS Spec HDI Intercooler kit (Core Dimensions: 600 x 300 x 94) and fit it behind a stock r32 frontbar.

(BTW I am in the NT)

Thanks in advance to help anyone can provide

once again i am sorry if someone has already address this question (I searched the forums to no avail)

hi

ive seen people fit the cooler behind the reo without cutting but most kits want you to cut it

most kits require you to cut the battry tray and this will get you done, however you can get your battery tray hole engineered provided its a professional job

you can get turn-flow kits that go through the stock hole but they are expensive and rare

i said it on another post yesterday - just cut it and dont worry about it there are literally thousands of skylines and other imports that have had the chop and u rarely here of people getting done for it,

if it looks very neat cops will usually say nothing anyway.

I disagree. With the whole "Anti-Hooning" thing being the flavour of recent times, cops are looking for more an more things to get imports off the road. A friend of mine got defected for cutting a hole through the support below the battery tray.

Having said that, I have cut through mine to install my Just Jap cooler and have never gotten done. I have been looked over by the cops on 3 occasions. But I feel it will be more harder to get away with those types of things these days.

if you dont want to cut the chassis to fit the pipework

then get a return intercooler kit that uses your factory pipework

no mess, no cutting, and uses the factory pipes

HKS make one, it aint cheap tho

and BLITZ do one too

But are they for R32's?

I know that you can definitely get one for 33's and 34's, but i haven't been able to find any info on 32's, pictures and alike.

Anybody seen any? or have a return flow kit on there 32?

I will ask around and see how it goes, but i doubt i would be able to find an r33 with a return flow in Darwin. Has anyone tried fitting an r33 return flow kit to an r32 before? or at least something that doesnt involve hacking a hole in the engine bay?

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
