R32 Speedo Not Working

mates R32 lost its speedo+odometer the other night after hitting a level crossing (far from being actually level) at high speed.

he seems to think the type-Ms had a digital speedo, can anyone actually confirm this? and what do we need to check in order to find out the fault. the speedo cable underneath the gearbox has been re plugged in before anyone asks.

Pretty sure all the R32's are a standard analogue speedo. Mine just gave out on the freeway 1 night on the way home from work, so naturally my steering went hard & it kept trying to stall on me cos of all the sensors & shit intertwined with it.

Maybe check the connection in the back of the dash, or just replace the cable & go from there....

All 32's were analogue (cable) drive.

Pull the cluster out and you'll see the end of the cable, I'd place bets its come off.

Often the plastic bit splits down the base. Should be able to wrap the end in plastic tape, and/or glue it back onto the end of the cable. I fixed mine and it was fine for a couple of years, then the key down the box broke.. then I bought a new cable
