For about $50 you could get a nice smallish intercooler to plumb into it. I couldn't stand running any forced induction without an intercooler. :P

i would for the awesomeness ... but its not the best idea

cos fuel vapor mixes from the carby into the induction system, one lil carby backfire could blow the front of the rolla a new a$$

But thats more of a concern for a suck-thru system. Your blow-thru system could take the intercooler between the turbo and carby. :P

picked up those drift gauges from vince this arvo (boost, water temp and oil pressure) pretty keen to get em in the rolla.

they are pretty sexy n im tempted to put em in the 32 lol.

only reason i dont think i will is i currently have boost, water temp and oil temp... im not heaps keen on replacing my oil temp gauge with oil pressure.

wish me luck butchering the dash to get the gauges in lol

Doesn't happen on blowthrough setups, 10yrs ago i had the same setup on a ke10

before going efi, the biggest problem you have with the stupid things is carby sealing

on hi-boost(16+psi), mine use to blow out carby gaskets all the time.

cheers

it can happen, just far less likely than it is with draw through.. while the carby is backfiring I'm not even going to consider it lol.

I blew carb gaskets on the old carb that was only at 8psi too. the weber I have now should handle the 10psi I plan to run nicely

  • 2 weeks later...

I still have a custom fab plenum lying around for an L16, L18 or L20 motor!

Might find a nice tidy auto 120Y, drop in an L20, Mahl pistons and Waggot cam and supercharge the dam thing with EFI. :)

If you drop in an L16...using stanza struts as a brake upgrade, it will be a legal conversion... ...then blow it.....i miss my datto's....had 4 different ones back in the day

I've had a total of 6 or 7 dattos over the years. Some of the most easy modded and fun cars ever. Parts interchangability is huge.

    • For anyone interested, this is my old graph from 2021, but I've plotted the previous setup curve onto it with a black pen. old setup was: pon cams, oem itbs and plenum, HPI manifold, hks 2835 pro S .87ar rear, Turbosmart actuator, 3" turbo back no res. or cat., greddy spec M fmic, nismo 740cc inj, walbro in tank 460, splitfires, 4" intake pipe, Apexi pod, e85, eboost2, power Fc. I love that the new setup has much larger turbo spec with the HTA3076 1.01ar Ts rear, and literally everything is bigger, but far higher quality and result is it's FAR more responsive in paper.
    • This makes a lot of sense! I just had that realisation a few minutes ago and wrote it above haha. This is a good new discovery. "Sanding the side of the hill" perfect way to put it.   😂 😂
    • This is probably what's happened to me. I'll put filler again on my repairs and use the long block and let you know how I go. Fingers crossed it's my last batch of filler lol. I can see that happening where my block dipped at certain points because it didn't cover all the high spots at the same time if that makes sense. I'm just trying to visualise the fact that with the large sanding block I will be sanding far away from the central dent area and whether that will cause issues or whether that's going to fether out my repairs better.
    • Thanks for all that info. I thought I heard that the size of the block should be the same size as the repair or is that wrong? Though I do have some long blocks which I can use for the dents in the middle of the panel. The issue is with the ones at the edge of the door and near the grooves.
