So I'm looking for suggestions for a drivers seat in my R33

I'm 6'3" so when im driving with the stock seat the steering wheel is pretty much in my lap which is not good when a little opposite lock is required in a hurry. I installed an Isotta taladega recliner which turned out to sit even higher than the standard seat!

So now I'm thinking i need a super low fixed back, which brings me to my next problem. Im about 95kg (aka a fat bastard) so I need a seat thats a little wider than ur usual race seats

Can anyone recommend a seat (fixed back or recliner) thats both low enough for tall people and wide enough for fat people?

A gtr seat, i bought one, they sit about 2 inch's lower than the gtst seat, was too small for me though but i have a fair few more kg's on you.

yep first thing i noticed when i wacked in my gtr seats were that they were alot lower than standard.

a good pair of 33 gtr front seats depending on what series it comes from can go for around 700-1000. the obvious difference between models is its newer/less wear and direct bolt on for the correct corresponding models i think.

i'm 6'5" and 95kgs

i run 33 GTR seats and rails and have a nearly 2 inches of headroom in a 33 gtst

Damn, never knew we had someone big people on SAU...hahaha....You're not fat for your height mate...

Anyways, like he said...GTR seats are both comfy and give good head room. :D

A 32/33/34 gtr seat will be a direct bolt in for any model apart from 34gtt and i guess 34gt, for some some reason the floor pan was different in that one model caompared to every other 32/33/34 skyline of any spec.

I'm around 6'3" too and I have had R33 GTR seats before. It's been ages since I had the standard R33 GTST seats so it's hard to remember exactly but the GTR seats do sit lower. The only problem I find though is that the steering wheel still gets in the way of my knees. Mainly left knee when using the clutch. The foot rest sits further forward than the clutch pedal so you have to lift you knee towards yourself to get it up and onto the pedal. This is when I have issues with the steering wheel getting in the way. I think the best way around this would be to get some recaro or similar seats and have the seat rail made to suit you and your driving position.

I guess it will also depend slightly on whether your height is based more around your legs or torso.

Has anyone had any experience with the IAP low and super low seat rails? the super lows suit fixed back only afaik and would like to know if the low type suit factory R33 gtst? I've emailed a re-seller but they were no help.

I can also get my hands on some WRX (MY02/03?) seats for next to nothing and was thinking about looking into modifying existing rails but am mainly just concerned about gaining some head room as having to pull back the sunroof cover every time is weak...I'm only 6'1" and if I can get away with spending ~$200 instead of plumping for GTR seats then i'd be a happy camper.

The reason the gtst seat is higher is because it has height and tilt adjustments, the gtr seat does not have that, maybe pull the gtst seat out and see if you can gut all that stuff out and make it lower, personally though you cant beat the feel and comfort of a gtr seat, once you have used one the gtst seat is just a POS.

In case the 'derriere' gets any bigger, hypnosis therapy :D helps to reduce weight/eating habits :)

im 6'6 and am having the same problem... damn seats. thing is, has anyone modified the rail so the seat can slide an inch or two further back?

the height is not the biggest issue for me although wouldn't mind getting a lower seat.

    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
