To be honest Im not too fussed anymore if he goes. It seems he will if you have listened to alot of radio today. However my question is simple. Who is a better coach to take over ?

A wise question. I cant see anyone remotely qualified to take over. I think he will most likely be put on private notice

They'll announce the tenure of a 2ndary coach and make him learn from choc, whether or not choc likes it or not

i dont think they can continue playing under the same structure that choc provides, the players clearly aren't delivering what the coach is asking, or maybe they are? i guess no one knows but the club. it will be their decision if they think that chocs technique/style should continue. they need an injection of new ideas, its worked for Richmond, they gave the Saints a real shake up in the first quarter!

that is a point however i think it would be unfair to williams

i remember when cahill was given the arse, they didnt do it in a respectful manner

i doubt that port would show respect to choc if they failed to respect jack, when u compare the two, jack cahill did more for port as a whole than mark williams- it could be argued that he only stayed as long as he has due to his dads service to pafc (which was venerable) but I would like to think that mark has proven himself as a coach above what his daddy contributed as a player - i think that the fact that some port supporters idolize the state competition more than the national competition may (if it exists) do a disservice to mark williams as a coach, considering Ive always personally felt that port supporters put too much creedence to state records, rather than recognize and embrace their success for their first AFL premiership - i think this diaspora is something that shows there is a difference between the crows and port -crows were formed from glenelg mostly, but it was emphasized that they were representing adelaide, and not any SANFL code - I dont think that message got thru to the port supporters..

I think there is a mental prob atm. So yes something needs to change. but what ? Very underrated problem in footy.

Also. We have alot of injuries. Alot of key players.

Not making excuses. Instead of losing by 2343 points we could be losing by 21 points :P

Yeah but at least if the winning margin is close, you can still hold your head high and say 'yeah we gave our best but it wasnt quite enough'

if its 2343 then someone screwed up and people would run in embarrasment - thing is people dont put the choker tag to the team that only loses by a small margin - the choker tag came after multiple and repeated failures by pafc in the 3rd and 4th quarters - if they can stop giving up after half time, or modify their stamina training or whatever, i reckon they could kick arse - theyve proven they can do it, now lets make sure they can follow up and make sure its not a fluke - thats why they need to be concious to work their asses off and not give anyone any minute excuse to label them...

put it this way, crows won 2 premierships, port 1, and port had the ignominy of having the biggest losing margin ever, but when it comes down to the local footy style, port win most showdowns - and it all comes down to psychology.

Choco will only go on his own terms, the club would never tarnish the image of such a club legend by sacking him. Hes been there for the Power through thick and thin, i wouldn't be surprised if he calls it quits after the H&A season.

+ he's the son of Fos!

Chocco re-appointed for another 2 years, Barry Hall suspended for striking for 2 games.

Seriously, Hall is the biggest wanker in the AFL, clearly the anger management didn't work. I hope he retires, the footy field is a battle ground to some extent, but brute violence isnt acceptable by anyones standards.

agreed Damo, Hall is a dickhead. He doesnt even commit offences in-play, eg running and giving they player that is on the ball an excessive charge / strike. he just has a swing and throws fists out of play

Hall should do what John Hopawatte did from NRL and take up boxing.....give the other guy a shot at you too....and then see who is the bigger man....doubt Big Bad Barry would last a round with a decent boxer lol

Didn't he come from a boxing background before he started playing AFL. Dickhead nonetheless

I think so but not too clear on that....but he was pretty much like Hall to be honest and its never good to see players like that.....hence i believe in the soccer style of giving the yellow and red cards.....if they had that system then barry get sent off as well as miss the next match automatically and also the review panel can give him more of a suspension as well

Roosy dragged him as soon as he hit the Truck plus he'll miss 2-3 wks so not really any different to the card system.

LoL at Damo's clip..........poor Rodey!

Good call for Choco's re-appointment IMHO. Where are you gonna find another coach with anywhere near his win/loss record, BUCKS?!.........don't make me laugh!

I blame some of our lazy players, cause they're sufferring from the (BFF) Big Fev Fever!!.......ie. can't chase, won't chase, no 1 percenters or second efforts....could go on and on, lol.

If I had someone like that working for me, they'd either lose a weeks pay or be gone!

And as far as the chokers tag goes (I think Ben said something earlier), we dropped that monkey off our backs 5 years ago....check finals records between both SA teams since then.......mind you, during those 3 years or more, we'd won more games than any other team in the comp, including the Brisbane Lions during their glory days (who were labelled by Wallsy & others as the best team in 50-70 years).

Another thing that sticks out when your watching a Port game is the lack of execution of skills, alot of stray handballs or short/wide kicks. You handball and make your team mate jump to grab it, which could be the difference between running of with it or being smashed by a tackle.

I disagree on that Pete....as Barry Hall was allowed to play on during the game and finish the game which could have been the difference between a side wining or losing....as if he was shown a red card it would mean that he would have to immediately leave the field with no chance of coming back on.....and a player of his caliber can be the difference at times.....and thats the big difference with the card system and the way the AFL system goes...

what if big truck coped a major injury as a result of Barry's mental lapse....that would mean that one of the best defenders of Adelaide would have been off the field for the rest of the game......its things like that would make the difference....

Lol you can hardly say that port has dropped the chokers tag. Just look at the last grand final they were in, not to mention several of their losses this year have been turn arounds after they were leading at half time. Still chokers

"Football" and Football should be kept completely different, i still think that if someone gets reported they should stay on, the report might be overturned by the tribunal, and that player COULD have made the difference in his side winning, but was sent off. Not all reports are from intentional reckless conduct.

Krishy, probably some merit in what you say with the card system, either way, when he came back on he was useless.

His contract runs out at the end of the year.....Sydney 100% will not resign him, so who's gonna pick up a 33 year old that you'll know will be spending at least 1/2 the year on suspension or getting the club fined for all the meles he'll create..........me thinks he'll be turning Pro Boxer next year.

LOL Ben, the chokers tag came from the efforts of 2002 & 2003 where we hardly dropped a game in the minor but went down in straight sets in the finals to Hawthorn & Collingwood on our home ground (Collingwood went on to play in 2 grand finals).

2004 saw an equally impressive minor round after carrying that tag (chokers) all year but was very quickly dismissed by footy commentators, footy media and even opposition teams when we beat one of the best ever teams going around in the Grand Final. The tag came about because of 2 finals games in 2002 & 2003.....that's it.

Our win/loss ratio in finals in the last 5 years has been exceptional.........poor Craigy on the other hand has choked more in finals in recent years than we ever have......and that's not a dig at him because I reckon he's a great coach during the minor round.....just yet to prove himself in finals.

good point Damo.

Without a review of the video, he was looking at getting 4-6 but instead copped a 3 with an early plea of 2 cause they found the truck had lifted his elbow prior to that...so there are always extenuating circumstances

I agree 100%, in fact I also think the AFl need to get rid of all these new bullshit rules and go back to how footy was played 20 years ago with 2 umpires. I know the players have got faster and stronger but I can't help thinking that the AFL kind of went on a downward spiral since Wayne Jackson resigned as CEO.

In regards to Port, I sometimes wonder did they make a mistake when appointing their new Captain this year.... Lack a bit of on ground leadership at times imho. Crows do to at times

    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
