EY guys, was looking at soem things to do witht he stimulus money! yay, Looking at sourcing some GTR injectors, a GTR fuel pump, and a GTR Plenum. All these should work on the rb25? Any one got any info on this before i go do it. Any1 got any lying around they wann get rid of:D, Im 99% sure the injectors and the fuel pump would be fine, not sure about the plenum though. If anyone knows anything let me know

Cheers guys

What other mods are you doing to support this upgrade?

Bigger turbo? Intercooler? Exhaust?

There are gains to be had with other mods done first. :D

was going to do cooler n exaust and all the other stuff done at once then get it tuned.

street, grip or drift? If its gonna be a streeter, forget the gtr plenum. And as Ruby said, list your current mods and people here can help you determine whats next.

ok so far i have done....... nothing lol!

got a boost controller, jst a manual one, running 10psi

my exhaust is going on very soon when i find some time to put it on, its a full turbo back 3" exaust with a split dump and a high flow metal cat & high flow muffler to keep it quiet.

then the cooler was going to be next, jst thought with the gtr plenum it would be easier to fit the piping then i dont have to go over the top of the engine.

then was going to do the fuel pump, and injectors.

I wasnt going to worry about a power fc, prob get a e-manage of get a r32 ecu and get it re mapped

The plenum was just a thought. Some one suggested it and i thought id ask.

why not use the money on spring/shock combo or coilovers and a good set of tyres?

lol forgot about my coil overs. Got a set already, fully adjustable damper & height. I think there section spec rmia. Apparently there gud but i dunno they came with the car when i got them. And already got some 18" work emotion xt9 i think rims.

sway bars? camber arms? decent tread?

yea was looking at some sway bars, last night, they all do the same thing really dont they? wats and approx price i should look at paying for them? Well i think i got soem decent tread on the tyres, nothing spesh, but dont realli wanna spend $1000 on jst tyres. The ones on there grip pretty well already.

If you go a Cooling Pro stealth fmic kit, then you won't need the gtr plenum. The Cooling Pro kit uses the stock piping in the engine bay. Just seems a waste for a gtr plenum and injectors if your engine/turbo is pretty much stock.

As far as i was aware RB26 injectors are top feed and RB25 injectors are side feed....so thats a no no to that plan Adam...but you can definately fit a GTR fuel pump...ummm i wont change the plenum as it flows well for above 300+rwkw so why bother changing what doesnt need to be changed....get your cooler, exhaust, give it a good servicing with irridium plugs regapped, and then you can crank it up to 12 psi....and you will definately feel the difference then....

good luck with it mate

gtr plenum on a gtst is a kent of a job to do and gtr injectors wont fit , and they are only 444cc , your better off buying some nismo 555cc or 750cc and an aftermarket fuel rail ,

after having a gtr motor and now having a 25det im gonna keep the stock plenum , most of the time youll find that stock parts are good for decent power as krishy said ;)

if your after upgrading your injectors i would say keep your standard fuel rail as that flow's just as good....i know as i am still using my stock fuel rail and its no problems so far...its the injectors that will be causing the issue not the fuel rail....my stocko injectors made 196rwkw on 13psi....so they have a decent flow....and it wasnt even leaning out at that stage

Yeah if your staying side feed no need for aftermarket fuel rail

....a full turbo back 3" exaust with a split dump and a high flow metal cat & high flow muffler to keep it quiet.
with most aftermarket exhaust systems will need more than one muffler to keep the dB's legal
then was going to do the fuel pump, and injectors.

an aftermarket computer or remap will be required to control the injectors and keep the A:F ratio in check.

+1

I run a 3" system with hi flow cat, berklee box resonator and 5zigen muffler and its a nice quiet note, tested with a meter at 90dba. Had the car in the workshop 3 times until I was happy with it. ;)

so a rb26 plenum would fit on a rb25? i didn't know that i always thought because rb26 plenums have seperate throttle bodies you need an adpter which costs alot to run it or something! not sure and gtr injectors are top fed not side fed and you're better off going with a aftermarket fuel pump if it's only gonna cost you a few more pennies!

GTR fuel pumps flow well till about 300 rwkw anyway so decent upgrade without the $$$

put your exhaust and cooler on. dont bother with inectors or plenum (if you got the plenum it would need to be modified then also custom piping for the cooler, most cooler kits are to suit the standard style plenum) injectors are plenty for what your chasing and you can always buy a fuel pressure regulator n run more pressure increasing the output of injectors

go grab a bosch 040 or gtr pump, new K&N element filter for your airbox, some new spark plugs gapped down to .7 (iridium are ok but a waste of money better going the cheap copper plugs and changing them every service) then call jeff from 'the speed lab' and get her booked in for a remap tune her at 13psi this should give you enough poke to keep you happy for a while

The RB26 Plenum only fits a RB25 with an adaptor plate which can be very expensive to buy/make and really not worth it. JMS are selling a whole kit complete with the GTR plenum for almost $2k! Its not really worth doing as the problem with running the adaptor plate apart from space is the atomisation of the fuel as the GTR plenum positioned the injectors for optimal location to get perfect atomisation into the cylinder. By using an adaptor plate you are spacing the GTR plenum away from the head which in turn positions the injectors further back. A friend of mine did this mod and ended up selling all the bits because he wasn't happy with the results for all the cash he outlayed and had better results from a Greddy Plenum for a RB25 with a bigger throttle body.

As everyone else has stated do the smaller mods first based on a cost vs benefit. There are plenty of cheap mods that make a decent difference as everyone has pointed out. For a grand I would buy + fit cat back exhaust, fmic/larger side mount, rear swaybar, bleed valve, half decent front brake pads like Ferodo Formula $125 Trade makes your car feel faster as you can confidently brake later. If your fuel pumps stuff swap that for the brake pads.

You wont need bigger injectors if you are running stock turbo

You wont need to upgrade plenum unless you are running way more power than stock plus its one more thing to change if you get defected so why bother

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
