i found the proto type i made, it gives you a good idea what im talkin about but looks rough and dosnt have the airflow sensor hole this is the bottom half the top looks the same as the pics above or for a little extra can be clear like mine.

also the bottom can be conected to a duct runnin to the front bar.

i have moulds for two differant boxs one with standard piping and intercooler and one to suit front mount

i would expect about $150 for one to suit standard & 200 to suit front mount as its bigger that would include postage within oz

i can sell these boxs but so far ive only had fuct coments not one person said "id be interested" or i would be making more right now give me ten min to pull mine out and i will have the pics up

i am interested mate. thats why im reading this thread. like munkyboy said, all we are looking for is pics of how well it fits, and a price. no offense meant

none taken !

the air box pictured above is to suit front mount it uses a 3" cold air feed from the bottom but as this was the proto type

the holes arnt cut out.

im not sellin these to make money selling them to help yous out as i searched for ages and couldn't find one so thought id make it .

sorry the one in the pics looks scaby but im not pulling my car apart just to sell more i couldnt care less if i sell more or not.

if i do sell i promise the finished item is much better looking fitts straight in wth no mods or if your not happy money back im not some rippoff out to make a buck

yeh jokes funny haha

"i got jokes".

well i guess no one is realy interested in these airboxs. i mean a plastic partition is just as good right?

"yeh right"

i also love how the plastic partitions start vibrating at about 140ks makes a mad sound and leaves awsome rub marks yeh mad might go back onto ebay and waste $90 on one now

hahah calm down man

fark

we asked you to show us the box, so we could see the quality and look etc.

because ive seen ppl try and sell crap on here for large amounts of money before.

and my airbox is very nice thanks. its a single piece of perspex, cut and shaped to snuggly fit the space around the pod.

its not sealed at the bottom, but then why would it be? thats another avenue for cold air to get in.

and it gets its air from a 3 inch tube running from the front bar into the box, from underneath. non of this snorkel bullshit.

btw, the snorkel does not see direct airflow coz its blocked by the bonnet, therefore the air needs to be sucked in to get into the box. so you need a 100% sealed box to use this method, like the standard filter box.

and after all that trouble, you still dont have as much cool air coming in, compared to an open 3 inch tube, not to mention that the snorkel may interfere with your aftermarket intercooler piping.

these air boxs are fully sealed and can run the 3" pipe at the bottom or the original snorkle or both depending on the intercooler piping.

oh and they are about twice the volume of a standard box

HI ALL RECENTLY I FITTED A K&N FILTER TO MY R33 AS I LIVE IN THE BLUE MONTAINS (NICE COLD AIR)

IT MADE A SLIGHT DIFERANCE UNTIL THE CAR WARMED UP THEN IT WAS BOUT THE SAME AS THE STOCK FILTER THEN I TOOK IT TO THE CITY AND I COULDNT BELIVE THE AMONT OF POWER IT LOST I FITTED THE FACTORY AIR BOX BACK IN AND BACK TO NORMAL THE PROBLEM WAS THE 100 DEGREE TURBO PLUMBING BEING RIGHT UNDER THE AIR FILTER I BOUGHT A CLEAR PLASTIC AIR BOX OFF EBAY BUT HAVING NO BOTTOM IT ONLY MADE THINGS WORSE SO IN THE END I MADE MY OWN AIR BOX WITCH FITS THE K&N POD INSIDE AND HAS A BOTTOM TO SEPERATE THE INTERCOOLER PIPING FROM THE AIR FILTER ITS MADE SO MUCH DIFFERANCE JUST WONDERING IF EVERY ONE ELSE FOUND THIS TO BE A PROBLEM AND IS THERE ANY COLD AIR OR AIR BOX KITS FOR THE R33 IVE ONLY SEEN THE TVR ONES WITCH ARE ALSO SUCKING STRAIGHT UNDER BONETT AIR ....

REASON I ASK IS I STILL HAVE MOULDS SO IF ANYONE WANTS ONE I CAN MAKE MORE

I want one! lol, got a fmic and a pod too, but dnt really wanna get rid of the pod, how much wud u sell me a mould for?

i probly wouldnt sell the moulds but a finished box with the cleartop like the one pictured would be $200 posted to your door i think thats pretty fair it takes about half a day and $60 in products to make one.

it would be finished though not like the one above.

including bracket to mount to original air box location.

  • 3 weeks later...

    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
