Hey Guys,

Thinking of implementing something like an anti-theft system that arms all metal exterior surfaces on the car with a decent current, enough to provide a good shock to anyone attempting to steal the car.

Anyone have any ideas on how to implement it? I'm thinking i'll need to switch out all electronic gear so it doesn't get fried when the car is armed.

lol... Sounds to me like you will need 40,000gigawatts of electricity to run this alarm (the kind of power you get from a lightning strike), then all you have to do is get the car to 80m/hr but not sure what your going to do about the flux capacitor, I checked on ebay and can't find any, they must of sold out.

lmao :)

electric fence controller - easier- did that one back in the early 90s got into the shit with the police over it as well.

what to you do if it fries a 2 y/o kid and they die ??

I can say yes I have done it on a few cars, not fence controllers, but E-stem machines, and point contact tasers taken apart for us on a ferrari testarrosa door handles( USA)

but your asking for trouble using them here in OZ, the crooks have too many rights to sue you ????

and No I wont provide details for use here so dont PM me.

best option is to deter them before they touch the car, visual deterents, microwave sensors, multi layer security or just common sense not to park in shonky area in the first place. remove all items from view helps a lot.

even a 6 buck steering wheel club will delay a crim for a few seconds more then he likes ..if used in conjuction with a alarm

best thing to do after you buy all the components to do this is get yourself a really good lawyer.

the first person to be injured, even a thief could sue you for damages.

the cops would most likely do you for intention to mame or building a mantrap, either one would be jail time...

If you put a pretty clear warning sign on your car saying it's electrified would it still be illegal? It's no longer a mantrap this way, it's kind of like having an electric fence is it not? Besides it's your private property, it shouldn't really be touched anyway..

The 2yo kid story is kind of scary tho, but a 2yo kid could also touch an electric fence..

EDIT: As for the low power tingler, it looks like that could be the sort of device they use in those games that give you a little zap is it enough? I've never touched an electric fence before (always pussied out..... like a boss) but how does it compare?

And 30three is more than likely right, a little zap would really piss off a thug if they had an intention.

I asked a mate before replying to this, he is a cop, pretty high up on his definition of a man trap. He looked into it and told me that under the definition of the law it is any device purposely made to harm, mame or kill a person. Your device would fall into this catagory.

As for a warning notice, even if you had one you'd get your ass handed to you in court.

there have been plenty of cases already through the courts where there have been clear warning signs and people have been hurt.

those people that have been hurt have sued and won big time. Even in the case of people either doing stupid or illegal things.

an electric fence around a property is a little different than what you are proposing as the fence is not on public land, such as a car park, but on private land.

however having said that, its my understanding that even someone injured on private land, even while trying to commit a crime can sue.

you have to look at it this way dude, there are so many things that could go woring, why open yourself up to potential dmages.

we already had the example of a child...

what about someone with a pacemaker, a small amount of current can cause them to fail.

or if your electrical device malfunctioned after a collision

or if your electrical device caused a collision

or if you were to park against something and somehow it caused a fire.

etc, etc...

there are plenty of decent ways to protect your car, but if your really that paranoid about it i would suggest

sell your car and buy a car you dont car about..

if i was to flog a car, and it gave me a zap such as one from a electric fence (doesnt hurt, not even as bad as rubbin ur feet on the carpet n giving a shock like that) anyway, not only would i laugh about it and drain as much of the power i could by continuing to touch it, i would probably kick the crap out of the car, pore brake fluid over it, etc etc

Think like a crime, u screw with them when they screwing you, better hope your better at it then they are.

Also i wouldnt mind betting that insurance wouldnt touch you with a 10foot pole if u have it installed and have a accident whilst driving.

    • The car revs up through the gears much better/faster now, and fuel consumption doesn't really seem to have be affected either on a Hwy cruise, which wasn't expected  The FAB9 intake manifold has been problematic sourcing though, I've contacted Plasmaman to ask about their intake, which you can get different runner lengths spec'd, and, their different options for throttle bodies  The only real physical drawback with the Plasmaman intake is how to connect it to my current OEM style airbox, as FAB9 make a OEM style back half of the airbox to suit the larger diameter throttle body, and all that is required is a 30°bend silicone pipe to mate the throttle body to the airbox Car also goes in for some exhaust work in a week or so to fit the biggest resonator they can fit clearance wise in the front pipe to help remove some of the drone, there isn't alot of realestate under there, a rough guesstimation is it will only be about 3-400mm long and maybe 90-100mm diameter, and with a 60mm exhaust that doesn't leave alot of space for the internal volume of the resonator to do its thing I'm thinking I may need to bin the "high flow" 100 cell cat for something a bit more substantial, yeah, and restrictive, like a 200-400 cell, to help, but, I have ample room for a really large bodied cat to replace the current one which has around a 4" diameter body I may look around in the recycling bins and see if I can find a massive newish cat that was "replaced" with some new full exhaust system that the local exhaust shop in Western Sydney is doing
    • Hahah look at that smile 😂 Just like those ones on IG where they compare the husband in family photos vs husband going fishing lol. I don't think I'll participate this time, clutch isn't in and also the last time I went there were too many numpties on the cruise sessions. Nearly caused a few accidents holding up people and a few guys initiating massive kerb to kerb drifts with heaps of cars right behind them. Not to mention, there were guys on the track session using it as a power cruise session.

    • All Jap Day is coming up again! 13th of July this year. Are you going? Tickets go on sale on Wednesday 6pm. Please let Quang know as well. https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1163155775853542   I still get shit from my wife for this photo because it is the happiest she has ever seen me. And it's not with her, it's in someone else's car.   Quang's EVO is sick, but that rotary wagon flying past was absolutely bonkers.
