Hey all,

Me and my mates are planning on doing a road trip down to Albany early next month, Thought i would put it up here in case ive forgotten anything or someone has any ideas =]

There will be and my three mates, we decided we will take the Skyline and my mates Patrol so that there are two in each car instead of two being stuck in the back for 5 and a half hours. We have decided to split everything equally, so no one is paying more than anyone else.

Accommodation will cost us $130 each.

Id say we only need maybe $50 each for food for the whole trip.

How much petrol you reckon we should allow for? I think 3 tanks? One tank there, one tank for while we are down there, and one tank for the way back?? So $75 each...

And then everyone can decide how much they wanna spend in terms of alcohol and stuff.

Anything else i should consider???

hmm you only going to Albany.. I drove from SA to Perth in the Stagea stopping over night every 700-800kms lol I made sure I had two spare tyres for the trip. Water and toilet paper lol I stopped for lunch and that was it. (stopped over night so had dinner, then breaky before I left)

Just make sure you got water, spare radiator hoses and your spare tyre has air in it. :D Oh and some oil incase you spring a leak.

Check your tyre pressure too and all fluids before you go.

Enjoy. I love road trips.

I drove my 32 to Albany, so hard to keep it at a respectable speed :(

Albany really isn't that far away. Fill up in Armahole, then stop in Mount Barker (~50km before Albany), the roadhouse is open pretty late there and they have Ultimate - I think we passed through about 8pm.

On the way back, top up in Mount Barker again and you're good to go :P

Mt Barker -> Armahole.. 2hrs 45mins :D

Spare water, coolant and oil never hurts, and fill up your spare tyre before you go/borrow an air compressor. Never funnier then hearing of flat spare tyres.

And don't forget your mobile charger, lol.

For the love of god, Albany to Perth & back is a day trip at most. Fkn Perthies. The road is fine.

Yes there are a few coppers on the road, mostly around Mt Barker & then closer to Albany.

Remember though, it is the content of the fuel tank that determines when the next stop will be, not the content of the weakest bladder in the car.

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
