Who here owns a car imported under the 15 Y/O rule? What kind of compliance plate do you have or do you even have one?

I spend about 800 fixing my car so it would go through I.D check without a hassle should they put it on the hoist and then the bloke says the car isnt complied and need an application for registration without a plate via a full roadworthy inspection.

I've had a look and the car has new seatbelts, side intrusion bars, but no tune specifications under bonnet, tyre placard or 98octane sticker on fuel flap.

Has anyone else come accross this problem?

Nhan.

You've done it right, you just took it to the wrong spot. All cars imported under the 15 year rule have to go through a pit inspection before they're registered in SA for the first time. You took it to the place that does ID checks.

but will regency ping me for not having a tyre placard, tune spec sticker, fuel sticker or child seatbelt restraint?

I want to make a booking but not if im going to get defected over these petty things.

i can get the stickers and what not done but i dont know about the child seat restraint.

Any tips?

I think i still have the child restraints from my old 32 lying around at home.

I will have a look for them and let you know if i find them!!!

My tip is to go down to Regency (the ServiceSA centre) and find out what work you actually need to do before taking the car in for the inspection. If your restraints aren't done, then you'll definitely be sent away and asked to come back for another inspection when all the work required is done.

Hey Christian do you know what the go would be with child restraints if you have the car redgistered as a two seater? Surley if you don't have any back seats and say a half cage then you wouldn't be required to have child restraints as they could never be used?

My response is that the mounting positions for restraint hooks are also good mounting spots for harnesses :whistling:

In all seriousness, I haven't dealt with that scenario, so I can't give you an answer on it. Common sense would suggest you don't have to bother.

Well I went down there today and gave them my application for exempt of compliance plate. I also had to surrender my I.D check sheet. The roadworthy personel told me a form will be sent to my home address and it would have criteria required for me to pass the inspection and once all is done a road worthy inspection would be carried out.

Does anyone have the tune specifications chart that is stuck under the bonnet? i need one as my car does not have one.

Evil34 if you have them that would be awesome.

If you took it for an ID check and they told you it needs a road worthy you should receive a statement of requirements in the mail listing what the car needs to have to pass. I am going through this process myself at the moment as I brought a car over from WA which is complied but has no sticker.

Do you have the phone number for Adelaide compliance services?

im sure my car has been as it has the Vin stamped on an alloy plate on the firewall and has side intrusion bars.

Had a tyre placard but has been faded. modded a r33 one and stuck it on there.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
