Not neccessarily, depends on the driver. Have owned many non-power steering cars. Some of them are a pain, but I found the series one RX7 I had to be quite light in steering at slow speeds.

All of the above are optional - in Tasmania I don't really care about air con, want air conditioning? Wind down a window. When I move to brisbane my opinion may change :(

Yeah quite right - I was thinking of sydney/melbourne style commuter car, where you are going very slow, tight turns/parking, windows up and down all the time for drivethru/parking station tickets etc etc. Its just not worth living without the luxuries. In fact most people would add automatic to my list but I just can't handle the things.

One other thing to consider is any of the old rx-x are very expensive compared to other cars their age. If you have 5-10k to spend on a daily there are lots of 10 year old options instead of 20-30 year old

Yeah hi. I've had a couple of early rx7s and i love em but not as dailys so much. now i have 1978 323 rwd 1.4lt it has the same floor pan as the rx3/808 coupe i left a note on the guys windscreen a year and half before he called me say i could have it for $200 (yay for me) cost $400 to it rwc. Get one of them if you can. They worth more like $1500-2000 was thinking about putting a rotor in coz they are fun.

Screw fuel consumption who cares when you have a rotary its not often something you think you about. you more thinking about the oppertunity to give it a flogging because they really like it. i have never had trouble with them. Except freezing cold mornings when the carbs flood because you have't got the choke on juuust right.

But don't want to convert my little 323 to rotar power because to look after them you have warm them up.

As i say i have owned a couple and you do get used wandering out starting it going back inside finishing your breakfast brush teeth by that time its nice and warmed up. but my rotary builder says its a must. the motor he built going into the fc atm he said will easily hold on to 30psi at 9000rpm he didn't see why i wouldn't do that but says "make sure every day you warm it up first". Just get temp gauge to register some heat. even 40 degrees then cruize it till its warmed up properly then let the flogging commence.

Me i want a car to start and drive before the oil light turns off (actually the 323 does not have a working oil light lol)

RX3 / 4 are great don't lower it tho to me dailies need to be comfortable thats the main thing. rx7s are a sports car stock comfort is ok lowered gets old quickly around town.

Reliability becomes an issue when the motors have gone over 100k or when you do a quick slap back together re-build with stock apex seals and expect it to hold on to more than 15psi or when your mate convinces you that they are meant rev to 14000rpm and you give it go till something lets go.

Slap together reco $3500 good apex seal corner seals add $1000 all the fruit expect to pay $7000 to $10000.

I don;t know how much this adds to the topic, and know its not as old as the older rotary's, but I daily drive a 2000 RX7 series 8 and i love it. Easy to drive in traffic, very smooth gear change and power delivery and very comfortable. The only real issue i have is fuel use but that's only when i drive it hard - my needle visably drops when i put my foot down! Other than that, if you respect the engine, warm it up adequately before hard driving and let it cool for a while after, then I've never had any trouble. Still going strong on stock apex seals and a few power upgrades.

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.

Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
