I nearly went for hi flow but thought of future wants and needs so i opted for bigger turbo.

So dr drift tuned your ECU, what the rough price for that job?

As for EPA, i know. hehe o well we all take risks.

Not sure.. but all mods was done by previous owner..

Ill say $600 tho..

I got EPA'd/Defected and needed engineering cert.

Car is stock as a rock now..

But everything is going back on next month and retune..

Good luck with whatever you decide to do

  • 1 month later...

Just an update on the car:

I will leave these modifications as is:

-Split fire coil pack

-Full exhaust

-K&N filter

-Apexi Cooler

-Greddy blow off

I installed:

-Gt3040 AKA Garrett 3082r(top mount), manifold, external wastegate (40mm)

Installing in process:

-Bosch fuel pump

-Blitz boost controller

-550c Blitz injectors

-Nismo adjustable fuel reg

-Z32

-Apexi PFC

All i need is z32 and my car is ready for a tune. Hopefully ill find one soon so i can get the car tuned. I am aiming for 270rwkw with safe tune.

Question time:

I tried running the car using MINES ECU with the new turbo set up and the car was not running properly, wasn't idling properly, would drop to 400rpm and jump to 1600rpm, and would lose power when driving which was weird? What does everyone think, will the PFC fix that or is that something else that i should look at?

different afm, different injectors and your trying stock or remapped ECU's ?

and you wonder why it doesn't idle.... ?

please either dont drive the car or install the PFC, set the AFM, set the injector correciton and baby it around until you get it tuned properly

dont even bother loading it up, or bringing it on boost, its likely to be unsafe and you'll break something

No Paul, all i did was replace the stock turbo with gt3040 turbo. Didnt install anything else (pump, AFM, PFC, injectors).

My understanding is, the car should idle normally...but its not? So that's a bit of a worrie for me.

My car is getting the Bosch pump, AFM, PFC and injectors installed next week hopefully.

expect some lag aswell mate, should of gone the .63 exhaust housing to keep it a bit more responsive on a stock engine

i had the same turbo on my 33 and similar set up but on a forged engine and made 327rwkw at 19psi with no more than 20 knock level

what manifold u get??

What mods were you running to get 327kw, thats huge!

How laggy was yours and when did it come on full boost?

As for my manifold, i bought one off ebay as i couldn't find one. Not too bad but not the best.

just a forged engine

cp pistons,

eagle rods,

hks 256 264 cams,

greddy exhaust cam gear,

hks 1.2mm head gasket,

crower valve springs,

nismo 550 injectors,

bosch fuel pump,

tomei fuel reg,

power fc

garrett gt30/40

x force high mount manifold

turbosmart external gate

fmic

with cams it wasnt that laggy, full boost by 4,500 rpm, couldnt really see, too busy holding on

but when it hits boost it hits HARD!!!

watch out for stainless steel manifolds coz they are prone to cracking around the welds

i now run a garrett gt35/40 on a low mount 6 boost steampipe manifold with hks 700cc injectors

Update:

I installed:

-Gt3040 AKA Garrett 3082r(top mount), manifold, external wastegate (40mm)

-Bosch fuel pump

-Blitz boost controller

-550c Blitz injectors(cleaned and checked)

-Z32

-Apexi PFC

-z32 with Apexi filter

Tuning has started but was aborted as the clutch started playing up and slipping. At 10 psi car made 170KW at 4000RPM. After that the clutch didnt hold up at all.

Made up my mind to go with Heavy duty cushion button. Tuning will resume as soon as the clutch is in.

Also gonna install: King springs for bit of better handling, and lower the car a tad bit, front strut. Turbo timer. Alarm. And car is done. Cant wait to finish.

    • That's awesome. Fully serviced/full log book history for one of those cars is super rare from what I know. With JDM's like Skyline's, Supras, are quite hard to find one with full log book history. S15's seem to be somewhat of an exception, at least the spec s australian delivered models.
    • Hey all, It's been a bit since I have been able to update.  I pulled the fuel pump, first off it was a "universal" pump and the strainer was very clogged, and it was folded over on itself.  I replaced the fuel pump and all is well....  No more stalling.
    • That's convinced me I'll bump up the G30-660 to 770   Any idea if the difference in boost pressure? Cheers

    • Hey guys so turns out this project is going to be much bigger than I thought haha but I've done some my homework and have done a few panels on my car, but one part I can just not visualise is this. If I do a spot repair and I put filler in a dent for example and sand outside of the repair with 320 grit lets say so the primer can stick as I will only put primer on that repair and the surrounding area and then repaint the whole panel. Don't I need to make sure that I don't put primer on the old clear coat? I keep seeing YouTube videos where people have new paint and primer land on the old clearcoat that isn't even dulled down, it's still shiny. I thought putting paint on clearcoat or primer on clearcoat is a bad idea because it won't stick. So in this scenario it's a bit different to mine but imagine someone doing a spot repair and only painting that small section of repair but the new paint is landing on the old clearcoat. What am I missing?
