I am sort of new to the skyline scene

2 years owner and 6 months or so on SAU forum

I would love nothing more than to go for a cruise with

a whole bunch of other skylines/imports...except maybe

sex with a whole bunch of Brazilian dancers.

But all I picture in my head is Sergeant Wanker

rubbing his hands together as he sees/hears a dozen BOVs

scream by.

As I have never been hassled b4 I don't want a defect

just to get my rocks off on a cruise

You know just because youre paranoid

doesn't mean theyre not after you!!!!

Well thats the risk you take if your gonna do something stupid.

On the few cruises i've been on, I've never been pulled over.

Even if I was theres nothing actually illegal with my car.

you must be in the minority

I reckon 90% imports would/could be defected

I don't mean driving silly either

just the fact theres numbers

Cruises are fun

Chances there is a more of a bunky silvia ( like mine ) they would like to pull over more than your car

Dont stress!!!

Its so much fun, and all the people are really awsome! Ive met some of the most nicest people on cruises!

Oh and dont drive like a spoon and your safe ( thumbs up )

i think you've been watching to much ignition dvd or some shit

most of the time they wont come out and say HEY IM GONNA DEFECT EVERYONE HERE

only when there abused

bulk fun to be had and plenty of nice people!

Public cruises can be an issue due to a minority of hero's showing how cool they are by spinning the wheels at every take off etc....or prooving how tough they are by mouthing off at the police who attend to see whats going on.

We do SAUWA members only cruises....good bunch of guys all driving Skylines (with the odd Stagea, silvia and 350z), no hero's and no problems from the boys in blue.

In fact on a members cruise if that was to happen, the person involved would be told to leave immediately!

This sounds like the option I should take

Maybe I'll have to join

cruises are dead to me. I'd estimate 10k to clear a defect.

The last cruise i went on was the ignition DVD Hillary's cruise and we all know how that turned out. Was lucky not to be defected for my 19's.

Now my GTR has a stroker motor, T04Z, 550hp, full cage, etc etc etc I'd have no hope.

Hopefully this whole hoon bullshit will blow over and i'll be able to drive my car again without having to pull into a shopping centre and hide every time i see a cop car behind me.

we ll as everyone knows a full cage is not street legal so your car shouldn't even be on the road so if you get picked up it's your own fault

and as for 19's i don't think so

law been in for 3 years 1.5 RULE R32 GTR CAN GO TO 20X10 LEGAL SIZE RIMS

Edited by gazza750

Gazza im 99% sure thats incorrect.

You cant increase front/rear track by a certain amount and generally cant increase the width past the widest available on the highest model of the car.

i.e. 8 inch wide on the GT-R

Rolling Diameter cant by increased by more than 2 inches.

Its something like this.

You cant increase the track at all on a FWD car.

I'll look into it.

if you dont act like a dick you will have no hassle and if you want to do skids etc there is a time and a place yeah there is the ocaasional police car rolling up but if you are doing nothing wrong thety either just leave or tell you to move on dont run dont be a dick and all is good see you out there

well there's the thing, you need roll cage for drags if you want to run 10's (not that i've done this yet) but it's illegal for the road. Tell me how that helps to keep drag racing at the strip?

Anyway i know it's illegal and if i get busted will cop it on the chin, i just won't be pushing my luck by going on big cruises.

As for the wheels they are 19 x 10.5. But i do have 3 sets of wheels for it anyway. :)

There's a few other defects that are just as obvious. If only the R32 GTR was made pre 1986. It's a little absurd that 3 years can make so much difference to the mods your are allowed to have. :)

    • Yeah well per the video it took 15s for the stock unit to start up....even if I give it a few seconds discount for starting that is at least 12 sec before you get a reverse camera if you are trying to leave a park.  The android unit is way faster, but 2016 for the stock unit is a long time ago in consumer electronics
    • Yea that’s why I said ima test them with multimeter and see the reads.
    • Only at idle. Isn’t a problem when rev it seems.
    • @Haggerty This seems silly to ask, but are you confident in your ability to tune the Haltech?
    • Next on the to-do list was an oil and filter change. Nothing exciting to add here except the oil filter is in a really stupid place (facing the engine mount/subframe/steering rack). GReddy do a relocation kit which puts it towards the gearbox, I would have preferred towards the front but there's obviously a lot more stuff there. Something I'll have to look at for the next service perhaps. First time using Valvoline oil, although I can't see it being any different to most other brands Nice... The oil filter location... At least the subframe wont rust any time soon I picked up a genuine fuel filter, this is part of the fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank. Access can be found underneath the rear seat, you'll see this triangular cover Remove the 3x plastic 10mm nuts and lift the cover up, pushing the rubber grommet through The yellow fuel line clips push out in opposite directions, remove these completely. The two moulded fuel lines can now pull upwards to disconnect, along with the wire electrical plug. There's 8x 8mm bolts that secure the black retaining ring. The fuel pump assembly is now ready to lift out. Be mindful of the fuel hose on the side, the hose clamp on mine was catching the hose preventing it from lifting up The fuel pump/filter has an upper and lower section held on by 4 pressure clips. These did take a little bit of force, it sounded like the plastic tabs were going to break but they didn't (don't worry!) The lower section helps mount the fuel pump, there's a circular rubber gasket/grommet/seal thing on the bottom where the sock is. Undo the hose clip on the short fuel hose on the side to disconnect it from the 3 way distribution pipe to be able to lift the upper half away. Don't forget to unplug the fuel pump too! There's a few rubber O rings that will need transferring to the new filter housing, I show these in the video at the bottom of this write up. Reassembly is the reverse Here's a photo of the new filter installed, you'll be able to see where the tabs are more clearing against the yellow OEM plastic Once the assembly is re-installed, I turned the engine over a few times to help build up fuel pressure. I did panic when the car stopped turning over but I could hear the fuel pump making a noise. It eventually started and has been fine since. Found my 'lucky' coin underneath the rear seat too The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ65pmQt44&t=6s
