Any specials on at the moment for a set of QFM A1RM brake pads for a r33 gtr with brembos. Will need front and possibly 2 sets for the rear.

Hi mate,

Brembo A1RM fronts are $179 for the axle set (RRP $229) and $149 for the rear axle set (RRP $199).

Also two or more axle sets of pads (ie front and rear) gets free shipping.

QFM A1RM Fitted to JZA80 Supra!

Thought I'd add my 2c.

I recently made over my brakes with some braided lines, slotted rotors and the QFM A1RM pads. It wasn't just a pad change so I can't compare directly with the old set up however I'm bloody impressed with how the car pulls up now and I believe a lot of that is down to the new pads. The brake fade is quite minimul and significantly better than the stock Toyota pads I had on it previously. Slam on the brakes and it bites hard, time and time again. So much so that I sometimes feel if it pulled up quicker my face would somehow detach from my head and hit the windscreen like some weird crossover film between 'Gone in 60 seconds' and 'Face Off'. Unlike my old setup these certainly give me a sense of confidence through the twisties!

QFM are a cheaper alternative to Ferodo DS2500!

I just got the QFM A1RM's and they went well at sandown. Greg was very helpful and delivery was only 2 days.

Very cheap for $130. I don't think I'll be spending big on pads again after how they performed at Sandown.

I will monitor the wear but I get to about 220kmh before jumping on the brakes and they felt similar to my DS2500's.

Well said and i couldn't agree more. I have been running with QFM A1RM pads in my RZ Supra (4/2 pot) for about two months now and i have not looked back. I previously had Project Mu's and for street and the odd track day i would not recommend anything other than the A1RM's. A fantastic, excellent performing pad from the moment you leave the garage!

I understand this is a for sale thread and therefore the vendor has every right to include favourable testimonials from happy clients. However prospective purchasers should be aware that how you define "light track work" may influence how satisfied you will be with the A1RM pads.

Today I went to Winton for the second time with my S14. It has R33 GTS-T brakes all round with stock rotors and QFM A1RM pads all round.

The last time I came and for the first two sessions today the brakes were great however around half way through the day my pedal started going soft and then began to studder. I came into the pits and had a look at the front discs. They were dark and had heaps of pad material spread over them. The near new (at the start of the day) front QFM pads were now down to indicators. The backs however were fine.

My experience with the A1RMs has been pretty average - bedded in with the basic 10x 100km/h-0 stops then took them up to Mallala. Mallala is notoriously hard on brakes with hairpins at the end of two straights. First lap fine. lap two stopping from 180 into the hairpin brakes faded to zero whilst still going 80+, so ended up deep into the gravel.

Perhaps they needed more bedding, as during the rest of the day they **just** held up but still got really soft and felt very unreliable after lap 2. Having run the Ferodo DS2500 before they are (in my limited and personal opinion) *not* comparable - I've never had any problems with the ferodos even with much less bedding in.

in fairness I have heard good things from people who have raced on QFM track compounds, and everyone who uses the A1RM on the street seems happy too, so just make sure you are getting the right advice for your application.

For ever one person who said they've "overheated" them (which as I explained is a bit of a fallacy anyway), I can quote 20 threads or posts where people have been extremely happy with them.

Their biggest problem is (as some body else alluded to) is that that put them in the car, then hit the track straight away. You can get away with that with a dedicated track only pad, not not a street/track pad like the A1RM. Their other big problem is that most of them aren't comparing apples with apples, their comparing the A1RM to pads of far higher performance, when they should be comparing the QFM Comp pads to those.

The A1RM is a Ferodo 2500 equivalent, that is, a pad which is 100% streetable, but still capable of like track work, and that's exactly what it is:

If people need pads for high end track work, then they wouldn't be running a Ferodo DS2500 anyway, they'd run something like a 3000, which in the QFM range would be a Comp9. I'm certainly not phased about a few negative comments from people who've hit the track on sticky rubber and wondered why a pad they could've put in their grandmothers 180B to drive to the shops on a zero degree morning didn't perform like a $600 race pad...

But, anything higher than A1RM is a compromise on the street (like any pad is, be it Ferodo DS3000, Project Mu's H16-03, etc) in that they have rotor wear and noise that is too high, and cold (emergency) bite that is too low. If people want to run those pads in their street car, that's fine, but we're certainly not going to recommend it.

So, I still 100% stand by the QFM pads, in that if people come to us asking for a street only pad, it's HPX. If people want a track pad, but say they still want to use the pads on the street, then it's the A1RM. And if people want a track only pad, or a pad that they're prepared to change to in their daily once they get to the track, then it's the Comp9.

Any negative feedback needs to be not of the product, but rather of which product they chose. I personally run the A1RM in the rally car, and I can link another 50 forum posts of people who run the A1RM on the track, and love it.

For reference Comp pads for the Sumitomo Nissan Calipers are $179 per axle set front or rear, and $229 per axle set for the Brembos.

    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.  
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
