R33 Rear Speaker Mounting Holes?

Hello there,

I am in the process of fitting new speakers in the back (16.5cm).

The speakers fit alright, but I might have trouble drilling holes for the screws holding the speakers.

Is there a way drilling proper holes without removing the rear window? (that I won't do)

The owner before me didn't bother and didn't fix the speakers at all .. (and that is not an option for me :D)

If you get really stuck go to your nearest equipment hire place and hire a 90 degree offset drill. just like a normal drill but the chuck and hence the drill bit are offset 90 degrees to the body of the drill - great when you need to get into tight places

yes ... the offset drill came to mind :)

As for drilling from the boot I'll check that possibility but there seems to be

the battery holder in the way ..

(My battery is in the trunk of the car)

It's all very tight and no easy access.

Same goes for the cover that sits in the rear below the window.

It's snapped right and left to the sides of 2 plastic covers.

It was a pain to remove :P

Why did Nissan not just provide standard openings for the speakers?

Would have been so much easier :banana:

Im guessing coz its a car used more for driving then to listen to music in but yes i agree they should make it easier. I did a similiar job to my mates car if you can try and pull the battery out. If you can mark the holes properly you should be able to get a decent job

Alright ... I'll check in an hour ..

As for the car I agree, they had more the performance aspect in mind.

Nevertheless they fitted a 4 speaker system and added lots of weight by using electric windows / AC and other gimmicks.

I personally like the luxury aspect of my Skyline (without it I wouldn't have bought it :))

      Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?

      Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster

      Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.

      Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
