They will not fit into the existing bracket... I know because I fitted one in my car last thursaday...

They are about twice the size of the stock pump, so you will need to alter the bracket...

also the top nut fitting is a different size...

AWESOME PUMP THOUGH....sounds sweet and works a treat.

I paid $215 dollars for my pump (part no 0 580254910-390)

You also need new fuel filter (for warranty reasons)....

I bought it online from www.onautos.com.au

The guys name is Trevor.... delivered to my door in 4 days.

My machanic fitted it and I helped...

Dan

if you are a hack machanic I dont recommend it..

If you get it wrong.. bye,bye motor....

Dont risk it... my machanic put it in for me for $60.... and that also included change oil, plugs, filters...... BARGIN, he looks after me....

bosch 390 can fit into the std bracket it you modify it though. i know some pumps are WAY too big and need a completely new bracket to fit...

is the 390 overkill?? im only after a 400hp pump... and with replacing the ful filter i just did that on my last service... do you need to replce it again or do they just say have anew filter present cos mines less than a week old!

ok i rang a performance tuner here in perth, they reckon no bosch pumps will fit the std bracket and to fit a 390 you would have to go for a surge tank setup....

i might investigate the possibility of using a GTR or VL pump, does anyone know of anyone whos used these?

I made a 044 pump fit in the stock bracket and it is the biggest pump they make. You have to moddify the bracket a bit and it only justs fits. Have a look at the 040 i think it is, it is a little smaller and is designed to be mounted in tank as it has the filter in the bottom of the pump, good for 400hp easy. The 044 requires the sock filter off the stock pump to be fitted to it. Get the biggest one you can afford to fit as you will be sure it will do the job, only paid $400 for the 044 so shop around to find a good deal.

Fuel pumps dont have a HP rateing !

They have a L/hr at x presure graph.

Bosch 040 Been useing a lot of these

Bosch 044 and these.

Bosch 975

975 is same as 044 but hand made and assembled and has threaded fittings, and is expensive !

The 040 and 044 can be made to fit in a standard GTR pickup situation, GTS-t same ??? i think so.

Adam you dont need a surge tank with the 390... all you do is buy some bigger fuel risistant tubing and by-pass the standard "small" fuel hoses in the tank.....

You will also need to put in NEW fuel filter with pump to keep warranty.....

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
