Yesterday, some spaced-out junky scum-sucking turd forced the drivers door lock, and broke into my car parked at Holmesglen station, and stole the CD/radio unit. Broke the surround around the radio / aircon. Totally ignored the alarm going off. (the Jaycar unit is going in this weekend!)

If I get my hands on the low-life, I'm going to tar-and feather him, then hang draw and quarter him,

Then I'll get nasty.:D

Anyone gets offered a cheap Pioneer DEH-1150 radio / CD, bash the crap out of the little sh1t for me.

TIA

****ing scum.. why do they even bother really? They're only going to get like $100 or something for it by the time they try and sell it. The only comfort is that one day they will be stupid and they WILL get caught and be punished for it.

Very sorry to hear BE :D

Was there any damage to the car itself (aside from the console)?

This is getting far too common. I recall a few years back there was a spate of petty roberies (car stereos, mobile phones et) as a shipment of high-grade heroin had hit the streets...

All the talk of setting up a car as 'bait' to catch people seems fine in merrit - but really will serve no greater purpose than getting those involved into trouble with the law.

I too want retribution. 4-times this year between the 2 cars - and I'm rightly p*ssed off about it. Just not sure what to do...

Yeah, the whole car as bait thing is a bit problematic.

Firstly someone needs to volunteer their ride.

Secondly, ppl have to stake it out.

Thirdly, the No Talent Arse Clowns who do smash and grab jobs would scope the car out over a series of nights so ppl would have to wait around for a while.

My reccomendation is that we all carry bats etc. When we spot someone breaking into a car we just pound 7 shades of shite out of them. Pretty soon car thieves will stop because they are all in hospital, in wheel chairs or just too scared to commit more crimes for fear they will get caught in the act by us and pounded.

Sorry to hear man, that shit is ***'d up!

I used to go to holmesglen last year and walking to classes I used to see ur black beast! This is wen I was driving a shitty lancer and I was like "one day ive gotta get on of those" and I used to admire it everytime I walked past.

U got a beautiful car

:uh-huh:

take it easy

:D

    • Hello Liam - HA - somewhere in flies - possibly I have an update, but I have been so busy, projects have taken a back seat to getting business back on track.  I will let you know the outcome, but I think I am going to go for the 8HP,  CHEERS.  ELVIS
    • Thanks Joshuaho96, yes - as someone else also suggested, the 8HP seems the 'smart choice' - HA - and ZERO to do with cost, but I am sure 8 speeds will be better than 6 speeds - HA - maybe.  I will purchase a new 8HP,  Thanks.  ELVIS.
    • Nobody said anything about getting a "...cheap Falcon box..."- it was JUST a question about a specific transmission.  And YOU may have a problem with not enough $ - HA - I do NOT - so please keep your comments like you are some financial guru to yourself.  BUT - much appreciated re the cost of a new 8HP and I twill probably be the way I go.  Thanks.  ELVIS.
    • Most people I know in the BMW world are swapping 6HPs for 8HPs. The 6HP has a big issue with one of the clutch drum bushings wearing out shockingly early which leads to them going into limp mode going into 5th/6th gear as the oil pressure loss from the worn bushing causes clutch slip. Even with the adaptations in shifting the TCU can't bump line pressure enough to keep the clutches from slipping and burning. I've personally looked at a 335d with 6HP28 with one owner and ~90k miles on it and the transmission adaptations were way out of spec and even though it nominally drove ok I'm confident it would have needed a full rebuild sooner than later. Other than that they're fine, but the 8HP doesn't really have weird issues like this to my knowledge and they're in everything these days so pulling them out of crashed cars isn't too hard.
    • There is an ABS pump and a few solenoids. You could trigger the front/rear solenoids with a pressure bleeder attached with a Consult 2.
