hey guys

i got a friend coming around to look at my r33 as his interested in buying one

i wasnt planning to sell, but i chucked him a price and he seemed keen (and the price is good too :D )

now ive just been looking at afew r32 gtrs out there, and if i go that way ive decided to proberbly go a 1994 model

just afew questions:

do all 1994 r32 gtrs have the r33 engine from factory ?

ive seen afew good ones (only from pics) with abit more then 100,000kms on the clock, but the plenum has a little bit of paint missing, is it true that cars with paint missin from the plenum hav had a hard life?? or hav done way more Km's ?

anyinfo would be great

ps. before takin the plunge i will definetly be gettin a comprehensive chek over by professional ;)

Funny thread!

My stock plenum looked immac one day, then i decided to gurney the engine bay and clean it up, the plenum looked ratty ever after as the paint is just old and doesnt like being hit with high pressure, especially considering the plenum goes through a lot of heat cycles.

There are a LOT more things you should be looking at to determine the approx age of a GTR when buying rather than the paint on the plenum, for all you know he couldve used a gurney like i did :rofl:

K's are not the only indicator of car condition anyway, you really need to be driving the cars for a while and doing a proper road test. It pays to have a pro who knows GT-R's look over it too. Compression and leak down tests can also be a good idea. A car with 60,000k's could just as easily go bang as a car with 160,00 depending on how they have been treated and maintained during their lives.

I'll put it this way... Which would you choose:

While its not the be all and end all, it is an indication of how the car has been looked after.

As said above, the kilometer's that are displayed are rarely accurate so I would not really use that as a factor in assessing the car's condition.

      My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.

      There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.

      I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.

Android Auto screen mirroring is MUCH cheaper as it's just a cut down shell, input mirroring and output mirroring BTW I also need that "screen off" feature, it is much harder to see wildlife even if a dash is reasonably dark. Both the Fuga and V37 have display off buttons for night use, they just come back on for a second or 3 if you interact with it, eg skip a song.
