OK, just wondering if anybody has any advice, but this might be one for good ol' Chris Rogers.

So I picked my car up from compliance today. They fitted a new immobiliser as required under the ADRs (FYI its one of those proximity ones). I believe my car also has a factory immobiliser (as there is a red light under the clock), not sure if its standard or not.

Anyway, sometimes the car will not start. It does not get any fuel. The only way to get it to start is to turn the key completely into the OFF position, and then try to start her again. and again. and again. eventually it gets fuel and fires up.

Any suggestions on where I should start looking? Is there a proceedure i'm somehow missing?

Thanks!

Thanks Rianto.

I've ruled out the battery, and i dont think its the fuel pump.. im leaning towards something like one of the immobilisors nt disarming.

The times when it does start, it starts right after turning the key.

When it does NOT start, the starter motor keeps on going and going but no love.

You might hear it tomorrow (or perhaps i should leave the motor running...)

p.s. i assume all four wheels can be squeezed into the V35?

err, maybe immobiliser problem. from how Chris did my car he completely rip out factory immobiliser and put in the ADR one.

he said something about the factory immobiliser is going to give you grief soon or later, probably if they just piggy back the ADR one on top of the factory one that's probably the main source of your problem....

but just let Chris give his insights... or you can take it to him when he is down here sometime August...

wheels - wise, never done it before but I think if you take off the boot floor and leave your spare at home, you can get either 1 or 2 in the boot,

2 in the back seat, and 1 in the front passenger seat, but with all those plastic dashboard parts I hate to see your interior get scratched.... or you make 2 trips, since you're so close in sunshine....?

spider?????

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!

INCY!!!!!!!!!!!! my pet spider........... that's where you've been hiding.............!

no, just kidding LOL

lucky it wasn't any bigger, we had palm size lunging around the house from time to time ...

good luck with VicRoads....

I had to make 3-4 return trips when I was trying to register mine due to the fact each of the 3 ladies behind the counter on different days had different concept of how to register an import, until a bloke was taking care of my case and it just went absolutely smooth in under 1 hour time!

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
    • Sounds good, we will aim to be there! @The Bogan I'll give you a shout if you are heading up to campbelltown for the meet too.
    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
