I won't be able to confirm till that week unfortunately, but I'll also bring along some meat if I can come?

Sure, if you like, but there will be good meat there: I only get the good stuff! And the cost will be minimal: we're not looking to make money, just cover costs...

If you do decide to bring your own, please let me know when you pm your details, so I know how many we are feeding...

Cheers,

Micah

It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Coomera BP will be a meeting point: it serves the best fuel down this way, and it's on the way to the Mudgeeraba Shell. We'll start working on meet time once I've done a recce run and worked out where we're driving to.

At this stage we're looking at a relatively early meet, so we can be at Myles' place for lunch. Watch this space for meet times.

Also, I need someone to volunteer to organise the Brisbane side of things (meeting points): it's not absolutely necessary, but I'm sure you guys would prefer to convoy down here....??

Was offering in case you wouldn't have enough, but if you'll easily have enough I'll just chip in the dollars instead!

There is a 99.5% chance I'll be there.

ETA: I don't know Brisbane very well but if anyone from the Sunshine Coast is going to head down then I can meet up with you guys somewhere?

It is going to be good! Stand by for the exact route, but we are going to have a cracker of a drive on this one (no speed limit FTW!). It's got a good mix of curves and straights, and the only b-grade roads are early on, and not that bad anyway... I'll repost when I have plotted the whole lot in whereis.com.

Stay tuned! :P

we might come along to this if it's cool. I just got my Stag last week and we don't know anyone yet but it'd be good to meet a few of you :P

sweet as cant wait to meet u pm me if u need help with and stagea stuff

Ok: I have plotted the course we're taking, but between my lack of computer skills, my fluid damaged laptop, and Google maps, I'm having difficulty getting it to upload properly. Stand by, and I'll get Goldzilla to sort it out ( thanks in advance, Nick! ;) )

The plan is that we meet at Coomera BP by 8am, for a 8.20am departure. That way we have time to get fuel and a feed, if needed. It's a decent length drive, but there's a couple of places we can stop for happy snaps, and to stretch our legs . I will perform another recce run closer to the actual day to make sure the roads are still good (there are a couple of patches of roadworks at the moment, but they're not too bad)...

Hi All

I think I should be coming along to this if that's okay. Stag arrives here Tuesday, so should most defiantly be a goer for this. Hopefully get to know some of you etc.

If i come, ill be heading from the redlands ..ie the southside, so perhaps i could meet up with the guys coming down from the sunny coast around the logan or mt gravvat area depending on were i get on the highway.

Cheers,

Scott

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
