what part of the driveline and what for ? gearbox being the weakest point

Yeh I was aware that the gearboxes are a weak point but I was just wondering how much ie diff's and cv's can cop before going bang.

Thinking of selling my GTST and going for a GTR with a full tilt 26/30(although my current set up is good) but was wondering if there were additional costs etc.

Im stuck in the position where I am rebuilding my motor and starting to think too much and its making my head hurt......

Do my full tilt motor and stick with my GTST ie then have to go strong auto or dogbox or rebuild to current spec and go buy a rolling 33 or 32 gtr and put my full tilt motor in that.......

and then I worry if the GTR driveline will take the power or are there other parts I need to purchase other than a dogbox......

Not a 16yo dreamer with a pipe dream either just a 32yr old big kid who loves cars......

Cheers

The 25 and 26 gearboxes are exactly the same. As is the diff and shafts as far as strength is concerned.

How much hp are you chasing?

gtr all the way, pull the shaft on a gtr if ya want some rwd action, put the front shaft back in and realise just how much power you are missing out on in 2wd. I would never consider 2wd for the power you have unless your running slicks at drags or something. The box will need to be changed, thats the main problem, ive never had an issue with same power (high 500s at wheels) from any other driveline parts.

1000rwhp will put a smile on my face and would make it worth it for me as were crunching numbers and its not going to be cheap......

I love my GTST though as it's real perty.....so im torn

1000rwhp will not break a 25 gearbox. It will not break a 26 gearbox either....as long as it's new. It also depends on how you treat it. What usually happens is the synchros wear out, the further they wear, the more they move away from each other. The shifter clips in between them drop out and get munched in between the gears.

Sudden shock loading will also send them packing.

I would suggest a complete cryo treatment of the diff and gearbox, complete rebuild of the lot and you would be ok as long as you don't flat shift or slam gears.

If you want the extra security, get an OS Giken 6 speed sequential. They are only about $14k and are good for up to 1400hp

There are many cars out there with lots of power, but the biggest smiles on my dial were put there but what I achieved using the GTR's amazing driveline while launching and cornering.

I could not possibly recommend anything other then the almighty GTR.

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
