Question about petrol (probably pretty dumb)

I always run on Premium (Optimax).

It's always a good idea to also keep a bottle of that Pro Strength Octane Booster in the boot, in case you need to fill up with regular and there is no premium around.

Just saves running the risk of ping when you kick it in the guts.

Lol, thanks a lot for the replies... Not sure if it says it on my profile but I live in Canberra, and if this wasn't mentioned earlier i'm looking to buy a GTS not a turbo cause the turbo will cost me around $800 a year more to insure... not good! Anyways, i don't get this car till the 25h November NEXT YEAR but as they say, good things come to those who wait, so i'm waiting...

whoa, you guys not living in canberra get cheap petrol! paid 106.9 for optimax the other day. p1r4t8r, BP Ultimate is cheaper than optimax, but you can only get it at kingston and phillip. I also think that you'll find that an extra $800 a year is not a lot to pay for Booost. (just over $2 a day- cut out a few ciggies or a can of coke or something!!!)

I have found that by running BP Ultimate or Shell Optimax in any of the cars that we have had over the last few years that the actual cost per km is lower.

I get at least 10% better distance from a tankful and it costs between 5 and 10% more.

Simple maths really.

Oh, and the car runs much better.

Even the Excel I had last year as a work hack got fed 98.

I reckon, as ppl have said, if u cant afford the good stuff u cant afford the car. Skyline is a performance machine, u dont see champion athletes eating at maccas and kfc now do ya..... well maybe cricket players.

I always run on BP ultimate98 and nothing else. That way if something goes wrong u know that the fuel is a constant so it cant be that. Then u start looking for other problems.

Ultimate98 does actually go further plus it is better for the environment (yes i still have my cat)

I live in Conder... Kingston and Phillip are pretty far away from here if i just want petrol What about Chisholm BP, do they have it?

As for a turbo, i personally would like one, but $800 a year makes a big difference when you're only on a K-Mart salary (im hoping to get a cadetship with a gov. department, but the first year you only get paid $16k so supporting a car on that AND having a social life will be tough going.)

And besides all that, i don't actually smoke, and don't ever really buy food. About 90% of my income at the moment goes straight into my account for the Skyline...

the reason optimax, ultimate gets good milage on most cars is that it has cleaning agents in it too, so it keeps your injectors etc cleaner, which = better fuel economy.
