Hey doods

Got my .86 rear housing on the turbo, makes a heap of difference!, it's much less choked, builds alot more power towards the top end now. Was a cvnt of a job though, caused me heaps of hassle getting that oil drain sealed again, tis sweet now though.

Should be able to make some more power with a tune as well, theoretically there's room for some more ignition advance with the bigger housing, but I wont try that on the street, I've given it a touch up, it was a little rich down low with half throttle sorta thing, only needed a few points of fuel taken out..

The boost creep problem has been solved. Wastegate holds a flat 10psi all the way to redline, still buying an external one cos I want even better boost control, and play with a screamer hahah

Couple more parts for the new manifold 'n sh!t.

0.7 and 0.8 bar springs. The others will come already in the wastegate when I buy it.

So all I need now is the wastegate, then i can get cooking with the new stuff. For now it sits in my garage collecting dust till after new years...

happy christmas!

Dude... why bother with the external gate???????

It's going to be very annoying at 10psi for absolutely no gains...

Well I'm definitely changing the manifold, cos I can then fit a 3" dump instead of the 2.5", and this manifold has an external WG port... It was just an idea for the sake of better boost control, external gates ramp boost harder and hold a flatter boost curve, I'm not interested in power gains from it and it won't be a screamer all the time, I was gonna get a recirc pipe made up too. But yeah, like I said, all this is taking a back seat till after new years so I've got till then to decide... I might save the $300 or so and use that on the fuel reg instead. I really wanted an external for the screamer, but that's pretty ricer, and it'll only get my car canaryed at the end of the day.

Thanks for the input :)

As a rest ult of the tuning I've been doing lately; here's a graph from data logging of the tune as it is now:

powerrun20-12.jpg

This graph shows a pull from 1500rpm, this is 3rd gear on the street, full boost of 10psi by 3600rpm - this is the reason why I want an external gate, better response, I should be able to build boost to 10psi by about 3000rpm I reckon. 4th gear should be a little better, bit still could be better with the external gate i reckon.

p.s.

70kpa = 10.1psi

60kpa = 8.7psi

This is what is was before:

Afrs are heaps better now. Pretty proud of that effort!

I've been able to set the limiter back to 6500(soft) and 7000 (hard), so should have a bit more room to rev now, plus more powar! haha

p.p.s that big lean spot just as i stamp on it is just measuring error, cos i'm sure if it was leaning out to 20+ AFR it wouldn't have lasted two seconds after it drove out the tuners garage. 30,000 kms later...

Still waiting on the gate.

Ran our of money buying christmas presents...

got a new job working in spare parts for Lexus, now I'm earning some decent money I should be able to get cracking with some more mods!

still on the list:

Gate and plumbing +3" dump

Coilovers

new clutch

Hey kids.

Making up a new exhaust. Sick of the fart cannon and the drone.

Getting this: eBay

And this for the tip: eBay

muffler2.jpg

These two are to go along with my external wastegate and new 3" dump, a nice smick, subtle new exhaust, exactly what the doctor ordered for my ears and the sanity of my passengers, they're sick of the drone too... (i.e. girlfriend)

God I love eBay :) :)

Hey kids!

Got my new exhaust done by Kermit.

He's a solid dude, love his work, great service, i]I won't hesitate to give him more work (before he gets annoyed at me haha)

Sounds great and looks surprisingly good considering I wanted it straight, on the angle (had to do so due to the size of the dam thing) it looks pretty sweet I reckon!

Also finished a battery relocation too, the battery now resides in an eBay box in the boot. Replacing the battery with a dry cell, and the strap is getting the flick for proper mounts, I just had to doge it up like this to be able to drive to work etc... (why the hell did I choose to mod a daily driver......)

Has 6 gauge cable, a 200amp circuit breaker and solid connections to the chassis, I loose 0.4 volts front to back...

Also mounted the fuse box differently, using the back half of the battery tray. More room now :)

So this is my engine bay as it sits now:

External gate and new manifold are sitting waiting, just need to wait for all the gaskets to arrive, should be here next week...

Haha yeah no kidding, Ive been waiting for ages to save up for them, they are expensive little pricks, coming from Malaysia, after my external gate they'll be next on the list for sure! Yeah they are drift teks, I love them, the offsets are perfect! Few mm out from the guards, but not so much it's obviously illegal...

what brand? hotbits?

what are your brakes like? it pull up ok?

Yeah hot bits... http://www.hotbits.org/catalogues-detail.aspx?makeid=24&kitsid=290

I'll be ordering the coilys within the next month or so.

Stock brakes are fine. They are pretty big and stop the car VERY well. The stock brakes and the wider tyres that I've got now work well together. I'm just about due for some new pads though, will be getting Green stuff pads.

Tial MVS,, 38mm, v-banded etc...

Booked in with Kermit for the 12th March for a new dump and screamer etc...

Will post vids of some pulls with a screamer...

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
