does anyone know where i can get a Cheap immobilser installed?

a very cheap one as i am planning on getting an expensive one soon when i get enough cash.

the problem is, i bought an r33 from a dealer and it was getting compliance done when i went to have a look at it and dint pay attention at immobiliser coz i was more interested in checking out the mechanical side of the car and body lol. i checked the whole car out and its perfect. only thing i realised is that it does not have immobilser and i am not sure what will happen when i take the transfer papers.

does anyone know where i can get a cheap one installed ASAP?

what happens if they noticed i havent got a immobilser installed? do i have to go through the pits or somethin after getting one installed?

cheers guyz

love u all :D

As soon as you submit the transfer papers you will receive an "Immobiliser Offence" letter in the mail. You have 3months to get an immobiliser installed on the car, so don't stress you got plenty of time.

Then after you have had the immobiliser installed and filled in an "Immobiliser Statutory Declaration" form (link http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/mediaFiles/lic_mr191.pdf), you will then receive the transfer invoice for payment of stamp duty.

As for who does the immobiliser installs i wouldnt have a clue  lol

go back to the dealer and ask him to install one...

its illegal to sell a car without one.

Did you get this from over East like you were mentioning a while ago?

Eastern States do no require an immobiliser, but here it is a legal requirement for sale and you can't go over the pits without one.

Both of you are wrong - it is not illegal to sell a vehicle in Western Australia without an immobiliser.

If the vehicle is less than 25 years old it must have an immobiliser fitted to it by law, however if for some reason it does not have an immobiliser, it is the PURCHASERS responsibility to install an immobiliser within 3 months of the vehicle being transferred into their name.

Vehicles 25years or older are exempt from having immobilisers and so are vehicles over 4.5 tone Gross Vehicle Mass aswell as Motorcycles.

I should know this, i work at with the Dept of Transport Licensing Services

Sorry for resurrecting an old topic. I'm going through the same process at the moment and wanted to know if these laws still apply. In other words, can i transfer the car into my name without an immobiliser and get one installed within 3 months later?

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
