So i received a canary last night and am just curious about a few things.

Staggered wheel widths as i understand are a no no, correct? (i.e 7inch front 8inch rear)

Removal of the stock wing with LED brake light means i have to install a 3rd brake light in the window. Thats just my assumption but makes sence. Any one clear that up for me?

Finally, I too have been cursed by the dud drivers side electric window switch, so my window doens't go down at the moment. The Officer didn't pick me up on it just thought the inspector at licensing might?

Cheers,

Brock.

PS. if i could borrow anyones stock 33 rims or the day of inspection it would be greatly appreciated. money and/or "the carton" can be arranged.

For the brake light yes you do need a 3rd one in the middle.
A third brake light is compulsory on vehicles 1989 onwards, no more than 1.8m from the ground.

Mine never worked ever since I bought the car, I better get mine fixed soon :P

Cheers for info!

Another quick one, I've heard people getting done for not having any water in there windscreen sprayer. My concern is on of my jets is only shooting one stream instead of two, are they that picky at licensing??

Cheers,

Brock.

Yes, they can pick you for having low water in the windscreen washer bottle.

If it's too much hassle to fix, leave it and see how you go. The chances of them picking it are pretty slim but just be aware that they may ask to see it working.

The nozzle won't be hard to clear. My advice is spend 30 minutes to give it a go and cover all your bases.

nephew is going through a yellow at the moment, they will check the center brake light but you can get them from repco . car must be 100mm of the ground at lowest point with 5 people and a full tank of fuel (cant believe that one), no staggered wheels. if you have a FMIC it must be permited

FMIC's don't need permits

With the staggered wheels/tyres unless it's stupidly different there shouldn't be an issue, I passed quite a few times with 235/45 & 255/40 & they never mentioned anything to me, the only reason the yellow sticker didn't come off was because I was waiting for mods approval....

Sweet deal. Water jet fixed, Installing brake light during the week. Might try get past with the staggered wheels, wrapped in fresh rubber too.

Any one have any idea about the electric window issue? Also I didn't think about this one until driving last night. I have blue lights in the foot area on drivers side and passenger side, should that be an issue??

Cheers,

Brock.

When I had mine done it had to be securely fixed. Others I have seen have stated that they had to be meshed.

Power window issue is probably the same deal I had with mine (units may or may not be similar between 32 and 33.. I don't know). There's a little relay unit that's usually screwed to the door frame, that was dead, got a replacement from a wreck for cheap.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
