so with a new house and family the logistics of running a once a month race car ( aka cherrired) and a family car ( tha fairmont) and tha missus daily (barina) are starting to look questionable

somethings gotta give methinks so the thought process right now is part with cherrired and the fairmont for a stagea and hopefully still be able to compete small time on the track

does this sound feasable or should i shed the toy till things sort themselves out and i can get back on the track

what to do what to do??????????????????????????

In all honesty, yes you are crazy.

Stagea's make a crap track car. They are heavy, slow (compared to a 'line) and need a crapload of suspension mods just to stop the oversteer. IMO if you go down this path you will cry a little bit every time you try and track the stag.

shed cherrired man. At least then you can still pop out to the shed and roll naked across the bonnet moaning "mineminemine" every now and again.

and +1 for a track only S13 or similar

Sif farken sell the 33 get rid of the fairmont!! Unless you have more than 2 kids of course.....

But if I were you I'd just hold back on the racing side of things for a while until you are on top of everything (in the most sexual way possible) and then you can get back into it (again). But if not & the 33 must be sacrificed it would suck, but be for the better in the long run.

i dont really want to part with either car and hopefully wont

but at the verry least dont think i will be competeing verry much next year which makes it hard to justify a track car

and the idea of a combo with a stag while not optimum is apealing course ive never driven one so would have to test afew first

Stagea's are awesome family cars, but they are bloody heavy, the fuel consumption may cause you to wee a little bit every time you fill up (even stock) and while the attessa system is capable under normal driving conditions, you have to remember that its NOT a GTR system, its based on the GT4 system, and thus is not set up for much abuse (This is what makes the stagea such a parts bin special, it was the only RB25DET powered nissan to be built with any form of attessa - R33 GT4 was NA only)

Dude, nah! Dont sell it.

She it and bring it out again when your ready to race again.

IF you do sell it with the intention of a Stagea for a track car, rethink that LOL

p.s. IF you have to sell her, im happy to do a deal on the diff as i want it...ill keep the memory or cherry red alive! Kinda like an organ donour if you will :)

no not a stag track car more something i could still have a little fun in and do the family car thing for afew years till i can aford to get a project

things wont happen till after the end of this years autotest either way

and i just dont think cherrired would be verry sellable without a diff mind you she worth about the same parted out as sold whole

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
