may i ask why you want one? and have you driven a car with one before? the reason i ask is because i had always thought of getting one until a mate got one. i didn't like it at all. made the gears feel more notchy. i didn't like it at all.

I put GFB short shifters in both of my previous WRXs, I just like the shorter throw even though it may take a little more effort, the GFB ones are also adjustable in the amount of throw they have , I prefer just off the shortest which is just off the harder to shift end.

I have'nt driven or had one in a Skyline but I imagine the same scenario will be in play hence my question about type of shifter to see if some may be friendlier than others.

:)

RHD do some, not a bad price either

I've got a C's short shifter in mine and a solid gearbox mount. I don't like a sloppy box. It's nice and toight now :)

The only C's ones I coud find were for R33s and RRPing at around $760.00+frieght which is more than I'm prepared to pay by a long chalk, do you know if the R33 C's ones are a fit for the R34GTT box ?

If they are and a second handy pops up I might have a go at it.

:D

Well driftshop.com.au sell a C's 'Design' short shifter, reducing throw by 30% and also a B&M short shifter, but neither say they are compatible with R34's

I wouldn't mind getting one myself, but want to get something that is more than a 10% throw like the nismo one, im not sure if the one on RHD is the 10% or a 25% decrease in shift though.

J34, mind telling us where you got yours? or did it come with the car?

I'm presuming that the one that reduces the throw 10% is just a shortened version of stock and the 25% or so reducer is the kit version ????????????

I EM'd Driftshop yesterday and am waiting a reply.

I wonder if there would be enough interest to get a small group buy up and running ?

:D

i know this is going to start a shit storm, but you can make a short shifter simply by cutting down the stock shifter. it's simple physics.

by the way, anyone who doesn't agree, feel free to argue this because i have diagrams and pictures proving i am right, LOL. had this arguement many many times before.

Absolutely correct hence my previous post and the 10% question, a genuine short shift requires the movement of the pivot point of the gear lever itself which I presume the scandalously priced "kits" do here is one example of a trader who should be rooted with thier short shiter just on the price alone as an example.

    • And I just realised that that advice is slightly nonsensical for a GTR, because you need 2 of them. But it is otherwise true.
    • Having had a reasonable look at the car, I'll be able to remove the (one time) rams and retract the hinge (they are held in the down location by a tiny (m3?) sacrificial screw) which will get it physically back in shape. From there if you remove the rams you need a resistor to turn off the airbag light (as Mark said, there are plug in kits and I might go that way because its reversible). And...per all the threads on here, even if you have the resistors to turn off the airbag light, the bonnet light will stay on as it writes to the airbag computer history - that is either replace the airbag controller, reprogam the EPROM (if I can work out how), or remove the globe from the dash. Having seen how sensitive this system is, if I had my time over I'd pre-emptively remove the rams, even on a road car, because this is all a very unnecessary pain in the arse. Reminds me, time to go and have a look at the Fuga too....
